Xiaomi mi 6 Ceramic Global ROM - £299.79 with code @ BangGood

Found 8th Nov
Use code 11BGESM6128C for this price, which I believe is a new best ever for the ceramic 128gb version. I've jumped at it now it's gone below £300

This is tempting tbh, I've currently got a Pixel 2 XL 128GB on preorder, already laid down £310, for that, might need to read up on how stable Lineage is on this

I had my eye on lots of smartphones this year but none are perfect. Then the HTC U11 plus was announced but a bit too rich for my blood to buy outright. The only one left is the oneplus 5t, which I might still get next year while I can still expect a good return on the mi6.

I was looking at this (in bright blue) before I plumped for the OP5 128GB which I've had a few months now and certain things bug me with it. Pixel is meant to be with me around the 15th with 14 day cooling off, so gives me a chance to test out and see the 5T launch as well in case they fix the camera.

Eek I've just ordered Doogee Mix 2 budget and specs wise good to take a risk but I do love the idea of the Mi 6 hmmmmm

Warning - BangGood do not comply with UK consumer laws and simply ignore complaints, in my experience.

Nice price for the ceramic version. If I could have gotten the blue and gold version for the same price as I got the standard black I would have been over the moon.

I've waited the 72hrs to unlock the bootloader so ill give Lineage a try first for you. Stock rom is pretty nice to be fair. All it is lacking is an app draw and I would like some customizing of the drop down quick menu.

I can't see myself spending £600+ on my smartphone. The xiaomi spec wise is so similar to flagship phones in terms of specs that I am willing to overlook the inconvenience of the import and delivery times. Plus its a fun little project if you are even slightly technically minded.

The blue and gold one does look absolutely stunning, but always seemingly more expensive as you say.

I'm definitely a tinkerer with this sort of thing so happy to play about with custom roms as I did on my 6p and htc 10, but to be honest I expect I'll put nova launcher on as always and I'll be more than happy.

They are a Chinese based company what makes you think they should comply with UK consumer law. you should have section 75 credit card protection as long as you don't use it with paypal

Does anyone know if the ceramic version shatters like the mi mix does if you drop it? I'm not talking about the screen, I mean the entire phone.

is this the one with the gold on the back

A deal was on a few weeks back I don't kmow if they got charged customs but I got charged when I ordered my mi5s about a month back so you may get a charge.

I would definitely expect this to be the case as it's the same material. Excellent scratch resistance but you don't want to drop it!

My experience:- ordered a Xiaomi power bank from them 8 weeks ago, didn't arrive. Emailed them, replacement unit issued without quibble

Anyone know if the phone is compatible with UK banking apps? These don't tend to work with rooted phones. Is miui classed as custom rom.

Pretty tempted by this, especially given the ZTE Axon 7 I ordered from gearbest a couple of weeks ago is now delayed until end November at least. I've got a recollection from here that people ordering through banggood have started getting customs charges more frequently though, can anyone confirm / refute?

Cheers!

Yeah it has happened recently for a lot of people who ordered from Banggood. See here<. I think it might be due to differences in currency rates. Explanation here<. Last week a hukd user who bought a MI 6 from a previous Banggood deal commented here< saying they weren't charged but in comparison to other Chinese sellers, Banggood orders seem to have a higher risk of customs charges.

I ordered this a few weeks back when it was £317 with same code haha, arrived last week all great and a fantastic bit of kit, seriously. No B20 was never a big issue for me, only real problem is the ceramic is slidey as fu.... So be careful. Can't believe it's under £300, absolute bargain! Should note there were no custom charges either, think it's luck of the draw.

Cheers, very useful links, if the additional fee is only about £10 then that's not a big hit. And thanks b0wsey!

Gonna have to think on it as it's a significantly bigger outlay than my £175 ZTE Axon 7 purchase, and getting to that stage where it's a lot to risk if something goes wrong (not really bought from Chinese websites before so a little apprehensive).

Cheers

They'll work, MIUI is not rooted by default.

Ugh, decisions, decisions... I wanted one of these at launch but the price was way more than this obviously... I'm currently on the OnePlus 3 and have been since the launch of that happy with it but I'd love the dual camera and the SD835 of this, not sure if I'd be happy with dropping screen size though or loosing the dash charge

Mine works fine with M&S Banking App.

No doubting the Mi6 is nice, but I'm not sure you'll see a difference in real life performance going from a SD 821 to the 835, and you'll lose the headphone jack. Not sure how good the camera is on the Mi6, but I believe the OP3 isn't great.

Mi6 has QC3.0... is Dash Charge better? Certainly easier to find third party chargers that support QC3.0 compared to Dash Charge.

Unfortunately the code is no longer working

This or the Mi Mix2?? which is coming down nicely in price.

The Mi Mix 2 was my in my thoughts too, different beast really though. I'm really hopeful after shoddy battery life on my 6p and htc 10 that the relatively sizable battery on a 'smaller' 1080p display will give me an excellent screen on time. That was more important to me than the screen real estate.

Brilliant! However, the code no longer works! Shame. Heat added.

ANyone received this yet?

No not yet, but it can take quite a while so I wouldn't be worrying. Can be up to something like 25 business days, so basically a month. I ordered on 8th so I'd only start worrying on the 8th December.

I have been using it today, its heavy but in a good way, feels like you are holding something solid. It's fast, ceramic is nice but I am finding the camera not so good. Whats your opinion motorheadache

I've been so busy at work I hardly had a chance to play unfortunately. Certainly feels great and looks the business too. I heard the camera was only so-so but guess there has to be some corners cut somewhere. Will take time to get used to miui I'm sure, but otherwise pretty chuffed, and the turnaround was quick too.

Looking forward to receiving mine, has anyone who received it been stung for postage fees? Re the camera, might be worth looking for the modified Google hdr+ app.

Original Poster

No fees I saw about the hdr+ but I think I'm going to put the xiaomi.eu rom on in a few days once I can unlock the bootloader so not too concerned about that until then.

No fees....whats special about xiaomi.eu rom? No idea how to put on these roms. I updated the software that came with the phone as there was an update available

I'd have a look on the xiaomi subreddit on reddit, they have a wiki there which explains quite a bit. Ultimately it's very similar but removes all the Chinese bloatware and there are a few more EU centric revisions. But to be honest it's not a necessity and though it should be fairly easy to do, it's fairly easy to get wrong too and a bugger to resolve if any step fails. You aren't really missing out by staying put.

You put the new rom on your phone motorheadache?

Seems the google hdr+ does not work on mi6

Mine arrived today, installed nova launcher and material notification shade to give an app draw and improve the notification bar. Have to say I'm very impressed although I haven't used the camera much yet.

Just a sample taken today. It's not bad, the focus could be a bit better but wouldn't complain.
