The Xiaomi Mi 8 Dual SIM Smartphone has been created with a large 6.21” Full HD+, AMOLED screen, 64GB of storage, NFC, GPS, face unlock technology, a pressure sensitive fingerprint sensor, 3400mAh Quick Charge battery, along with a 20MP front camera and a 12MP + 12MP dual rear camera.

Super snaps

Mi 8’s rear camera houses a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens, providing you with options such as Portrait mode with background blurring, Dual Pixel Autofocus, AI Beautify and Low light enhancement – all to ensure you take pictures you’ll want to treasure.

Thanks to the Xiaomi Mi 8’s front facing 20MP lens with Mirror, AI portrait mode, Selfie timer and 3D Beautify, you can be sure your selfies will be perfect for your social media pages.

Great screen

With a 6.21”, 2248 x 1080 Full HD+, AMOLED display, there’s more room for your apps and websites. Large screens really help when being used in conjunction with your favourite Sat Nav app and the phone’s on board GPS system.

Quick access

Fire up your phone from the lock screen in no time, thanks to the Mi 8’s face unlock technology or via the rear, pressure sensitive fingerprint sensor – one glance or tap and away you go.

Top comments
I own one of these MI8 phones, the comments in this thread have that feeling of comments that repeat/parrot the comments/reviews online, but not the people that actualy own one, we see things a little different.

Keep in mind the people doing the youtube reviews have to keep all these different companies onside, Samsung, Honor, etc. I don't. I've no links to any of them.

Not sure why Mrswitch is so negative on this phone, because I think it's one of the best phones around, maybe it's the notch. To put that in pespective, it's £85 extra over the LCD panel of the Xiaomi A2 that Mrswitch bought and I'dI still go for this (being an Amoled panel), day in, day out.

There is nothing wrong with the Xiaomi A2 either, a bargain at £114, but you get so much more for your money with this. Two words, 'the notch' is fine, it disappears into obscurity when it needs to, and isn't that bad in real life when it's there.

On top of that, you're getting 2 year peace of mind from John Lewis, compared to Argos.

FFS, it doesn't get much better than this, in terms of buying a mobile.

Ignore the pointless 'Apple brave' headphones "no headphone jack" comments, most people have one set of 3.5mm headphones, Xiaomi supply a USB C to 3.5mm adapter - job done.
64GB is fine, plus, it's really easy to move files using an OTG USB Type-C micro-sd reader (search ebay for the gold/silver/chrome adapter for as little as £1.04), basically, capacity really isn't the issue everyone makes it out to be. Remember too, a 64GB iPhone XS will cost you £999, 5.8'' compared to this, 6.21''.

The Quallcomm QC 4.0 (Quick 4.0 Charging) is amazing to watch at work, 20 mins is ~50% battery capacity increase, it genuinely is. An hour it is 80-85+%. The Amoled screen is an absolute delight, the only niggle is the automatic brightness seems to set itself too conservatively on the dim side to save battery, but easily adjusted.

This phone is well worth £250, let alone £199 -selling it for £199 is just crazy, Donald Trump crazy. China seems to be going all out to put the spanner in the works of Apple's Spaceship, take advantage of the opportunity of getting a decent phone while you can for next to nothing.

If you buy this at £199 and are disppointed, send me a private message, because I'd stake my reputation on this being a decent phone for £199.

How do I use it with my TV that has a faulty controller? Cloud storage isn't much use in so many circumstances. That's why Samsung provide phones with up to 512GB of storage. I'm also pretty sure you can't save Spotify, Netflix or Podcasts to cloud storage :)Headphone jack; use Bluetooth. Aaaah, of course. Let's just create junk unnecessarily because phone manufacturers have decided to make wireless the future. Yep, that's a great set of solutions (embarrassed)(I should add that I often travel for months on end - so I need a lot of storage, and also make use of these other niche things)

Yeah, I've lost count of the amount of times I've wanted to control air conditioning in a hotel with a mobile phone.

It's £200.

Are you okay?

This is about bargains, not about whining that you haven't got a moon on your diamond stick.

There isn't...you definitely need this in your life...I will not be the only one that succumbs to these kind of deals
Never been that impressed by this phone, when the alternative at the time was the mix 2s, there was no need to take this when that was still about.

Heat added though as this is a decent price for a snappy 845

Gcam IS compatible out of the box. I use it on my Mi8 with a simple apk installation.

This is an absolute bargain.
I thought xiaomi gives 2 years as standard..
Interesting next best price lol but good deal

It says in the product description it has a memory card slot. Is that right? So only not expandable if using both SIMS?

It has dual SIM but it's not a hybrid with the option of the second one being an SD card.

Ordered one to compare to my nokia 8.1...
Was not happy with mi8 Pro battery life and in screen fingerprint reader, hopefully mi8 3400 mAh holds longer and usual FP reader more reliable in mi8, let us see
Lack of microSD is the only down for me at the moment...

I think it's other way round, priced matched by John Lewis, Argos had it couple of days ago and shelves were cleaned by Ebayers.
What's the competition for this under/around the £200 mark? Was looking at the Note 7 but needed NFC so might take a punt.
Really like mine. Great camera and can add GCam on the latest Android version. The notch is probably the worst aspect and it prevents notifications showing but you can use custom backgrounds that will show the icons on the home screen.
No headphone jack. So could the dongle be used as charger and headphones simultaneously?

The adapter in the box only allows you to listen with wired headphones. It doesn't allow charging at the same time.

Unless there's aftermarket adapters that can?

Nokia design superb, plus software and updates, hardware-wise it's gonna be difficult against Mi 8 - though bigger battery/less power-hungry SoC/Android One optimization can give Nokia a noticeable lead in battery life

Cracking deal OP

Yes, plenty on eBay that allow a headphone jack and USB-C at the same time for 99p. The downside is (at least with mine) is that they use cheap cable and the charging is very slow. Not much much when using it for satnav.

Not much tbh unless you can find an Honor 10/Play new at this price (you should), I was lucky to find a Huawei P20 on Ebay promotion, grade A but unused, charger still wrapped in plastic (Music Magpie)

Something new of this calibre very difficult to find

Same problem I had. Satnav & streamed music was too much for the slow charging. In the end I bought a Bluetooth to aux-in adapter so I could fast charge while streaming/navigating.

(apologies to op to hijack this post) Hmmm....that's interesting. I ain't clued up on this at all. So a Bluetooth to AUX is all I need instead of a cable?...but wouldn't that be a double connection? Bluetooth to car and Bluetooth to AUX? So my device (6S+) supports this?
