i dont know what the mi8 lite is like software wise, but i have just bought and returned a mi9. The notifications on the status bar didnt work properly, and the wifi would stay connected, but you wouldnt get any data from it. also the miui launcher is awful, no auto order on apps. It displays them in the order you install them in, or you have to manually sort each app individually. THe hardware may be great, but i question the quality of their software.
Love my Mi 8 lite and have zero issues with it....loads of different launchers on the play store if the miui laucher not your cup of tea and as for the price...sorry poster but i paid £159 from the Xiaomi app a few weeks ago so its a thumbs down for me for the price not the phone.
A bit harsh to vote cold, even though you can get an Honor Play for this kind of money

Same weirdness with the mi 8 , returned it back to JL. Was a bargain at 199, but miui is rubbish and full of bugs. Went back to my honor 9, which is end of life in terms of software support - only after two years. Next phone will be a android one phone or the fabled iPhone se 2 (which will be supported longer than any android one phone).

The issue in my case wasnt just the launcher they use, it was the underlying os full of bugs, its wireless implementation, the way it handled notifications. no launcher will fix os bugs.
