IMX586 almost identical to 582 of last year's Mi flagships. It's not a top of the range camera package, I believe Huawei/Honor can squeeze more out of same sensor with their AI smarts.

However, getting to this price the overall smartphone seems very good value to me, shame about 64GB

I'd recommend paying the extra for the 128gb version as the memory isnt expandable, and 4k videos can eat up a lot of space. I upgradred from a S7 active to this and I've been very happy with it so far.

I've purchased phones from Ali Express on 3 occasions without any problems.
They were all cheap Redmi phones for £100 to £130 each.

I would however draw the line at any purchase in excess of about £150 from Chinese sellers.
Hence I'd rather pay a bit extra and have the safety net of a warranty and/or customer service.

That said, I'm reasonably sure section 75 would cover the purchase hmmm....

I struggle with the size of videos. Even a 720p recording seems to take up huge storage. What do you do when you eventually upload the video to your computer or your online storage? do you compress it somehow or...?
What about if you want to share that video, surely it would be awkward to share a something that is several gigs?

My Mi 9 just arrived from GearBest and, so far, I'm happy with it apart from one problem. I have my Galaxy Watch connected to it but if I close the Gear Wearable app, it disconnects so I have to have it running all the time. On my old S8, I used to be able to close all apps and the Galaxy Watch would still be connected. I've turned off the battery saver restrictions on the Wearable app, the Galaxy Watch plugin and Samsung Accessory plugin but it still disconnects. Has anyone had the same problem and found a fix?

I see Gearbest don't accept Amex. They do accept paypal. I can use Amex as the underlying card when paying through Paypal.
So far so good.
My actual question is regarding section 75 protection. Does that go out the window?
Do you get any form of protection from a credit card company when going through Paypal to one of these Chinese sellers?

No, I've seen this asked before, and the plain answer was no, PayPal protection you're covered with in that instance.

They're separate lines of protection

PayPal works very well to ensure item is received by buyer, in 'as described' state

CC protection also excellent. To counter lack of effective seller warranty, best is phone insurance through bank/building society account

It's not that difficult, 9T has SD 730 - great phone

Different design too, bigger battery - no Xiaomi buff here, some of the models only sold in China/India, sometimes under different names
