Check out the other Mi A1 threads - lots of comments on there. My understanding is that they're pretty much the same apart from this being Android and the RN4 being Miui re: OS. The other difference is the battery - 3080 (Mi A1) vs 4100 (RN4). I'm happy to be corrected by the Tech Experts on here!! Also, I think this one has Gorilla Glass whereas the RN4 doesn't.

I read that the A1 ROM was ported to the RN4. If that's useful. It is to me

Xiaomi Mi A1 is also USB type-C. I really wish this deal was for the one in black

Mine took about eight weeks to be delivered, didn't pay important duty. USB-C is a slight pain having to get me cables! Also be aware of screen protector mine is a touch to small.

Slap a case on it

For a safer bet although I think about 215 laptops direct have these in stock so u will get UK warranty and protection worth the extra cash in my opinion, and if u get hit with customs charges u will not be much under 200 anyway.

I bought 3 Xiaomi note 2 and all of them have a problem (charging, speaker, signal) so, I think they are selling bad refurbished phone as new.. Don't buy there!!

It depends whether you can get a global edition from day 1. I think these far Eastern markets are beginning to realise that the UK budget market is an important one and that might make it earlier to get a B20 one. I'm on EE anyway but I like keeping my options open who knows O2 and voda might eventually get their act together with speeds of 4g you can stream football from. Also how they price it will be a key point. I wouldn't like a non miui version even if you can strip the Chinese apps out I am not tech able, I got the oneplus one just to get Cyanogen as I wasn't able to cyanogenmod

Good call with laptopsdirect.co.uk/bct…=ex I think most folk wouldn't mind paying more with a returns policy, warranty, help line etc
Also for business owners who are VAT registered.
I'd really like to see a Xiaomi UK supplier maybe laptop direct if supported maybe the one.
I guess the main question is how much more would make folk say 'its worth the extra'?
30%?
That would make this deal £202 approx but with 14 day return and 12 month warranty....worth it imo

Sorry, when you said "Don't buy there!!", can I doublecheck that "there" refers to LightInTheBox or LaptopsDirect?

Dreadful review for this retailer. Avoid. Cold.

hi mate, we never selling bad refurbished phone as new, do you mind give me your order number? so i can check what happened.

Not bad spec for the price ....but on a slight tangent, I just placed my first order on Aliexpress on the 27th of Oct....I'm just not used to waiting so long for my stuff to arrive, especially as I have Amazon Prime.....Further to this, DHL called me about customs charges which need to be paid once the package hits good old Blighty . Reported this to the seller who has promised me that I will receive the package without having to pay such a fee and additionally promised me that they will pay the fee if it really does stand.
For me, this will be my first and last order from China . Although the discounts are good, the delivery time scale, delivery costs and customs charges are just too much hassle for me personally.
I should add, these comments are not about Light In The Box from whom I have never purchased an item from.
Maybe Amazon should have a special chinese market place on their site which sells products directly from China, where delivery costs and time frames are massively reduced or non existent. Sounds like 'fulfilled by Amazon' but not as it would have the same range / sellers as Aliexpress/Gearbest......

Delivery costs and customs charges go hand in hand, DHL is pretty much a guarantee of customs charges...did you select that or was it the only option?
It's possible, and the preferred method by many...to have items posted free from China (Or even with an additional charge for optional tracking insurance or quicker non couriered delivery)
If you consider that some companies in this country will charge you to collect an item yourself! or that it would likely cost you more to post the same item even just a few miles away in the same country, then the postage options and costs from China (over 4000 miles away) are incredibly good. IMO

You have definitely been spoiled by Amazon prime I use it myself, but it's unrealistic to use it as a benchmark.

Go free delivery with all the Chinese company sourced items, or with the few pence extra via Belgian Post service or whatever the next up option is at the time is. NEVER DHL. Never had problems with Gearbest or Banggood.

Well tell a lie, one order, they sent high quality Apple lighting charging leads instead of micro Usb ones.Totally refunded - and got to keep them 😃

AliExpress now takes PayPal.

According to reviews it doesnt support qualcoms quick charge so i passed on this. May go for the lenovo p2 or wait for the p3 instead.

Don't they charge a (small) fee?

Don't they charge a (small) fee?

I believe so, but I think if you go through TCB, that fee will be more than offset. It's really for people that worry about not using PayPal, I suppose.

With my Mi A1 order it was purchased from banggood and had online tracking to the local post office.

I ordered the £10 Xiaomi watch from Gearbest. It's tracked to Heathrow airport, stuck in customs for 6 weeks. I've had a Live chat with Gearbest yesterday and they acknowledge the problem and asked me to contact back Monday.

So not all a bed of roses but not dreadful.
I think my spend limit with China is £200 per order, you have to draw the line somewhere.

They never usually do, that's why I bought this phone. Tired of nearly everything working.
