Reading the Shipping info on their site, these are sent from Hong Kong, so there is the risk of Customs fees. That seems to be a lottery.

The cheapest Black 64gb I've found in the UK is £164, on eBay, unless anyone has found cheaper.

EDIT: Thanks to AndyRoyd for spotting this in the Terms :

1.9. Import Tax
By purchasing a product through our site, customers outside Hong Kong authorise Toby Deals to make arrangements of clearance of customs on their behalf for the products they have ordered.
Our prices on our site are final and there won’t be any additional fees to pay when the product arrives.

EDIT 2:

I left the phone in my checkout cart without paying, 5 hours ago. They've just sent me an email offering another £3 off. I've heard that that tactic sometimes works on other websites too.

Could get them from Ireland for £150 a few weeks back, dunno about now.

EDIT: Yeah, just shy of £150:

Excellent phone and excellent price just don't know enough about seller. Heat added for price.
Voted hot
I was after a pixel 2 but they've shot back up in price lately, what was £30/m a month back is now £34/m + £180 upfront! Thinking I'll go sim only for a year and get one of these myself. Got one for my OH, she really likes it.
They are £143 (£3 more than this deal) at eGlobalCentral UK: eglobalcentraluk.com/xia…tml

Also 2% cashback at TCB

I bought one from there a few weeks back, came within 6 or 7 days, no tax to pay (presumably shipped from within EU). In fact, I am about to buy another from there.

It's a shame Xiaomi didn't announce the Mi A2, as these would have dropped in price.

Same as EGC: no import fees to pay with Toby - any fee payments are sorted by the merchant before item is delivered to buyer: "Our prices on our site are final and there won’t be any additional fees to pay when the product arrives." para 1.9 at tobydeals.co.uk/en_…ns/
Obvious reminder to pay merchant directly by UK credit card if wishing to benefit from replicated merchant obligations serviced in UK, including merchant warranty.

It would not be called "Mi A2"... A1 stands for Android One.

It is called the Mi A2 and the Mi A1 was called the A1, as the Chinese Xiaomi big resellers, did not want it marketed outside of Asia as the 5x which is what the A1 was in the first place

A1 stands for android one, it must do...to much of a coincidence otherwise.

There will never be a Mi A2

My guess is 2nd gen Mi A1 will be Mi A1S
but thats just a wild guess.

Great price btw, but I have never heard of Toby.

It's not for android one, as mentioned before, it was so that the actual real model would not get confused elsewhere for sale outside of Asia, as it is the Xiaomi 5x, yes it was their first Android One OS based phone, so can see why it may be seen as standing for that by some

I hope there will be an Mi A2 as I asked someone to pre-order one!

You (anyone) can check the spec here..

kimovil.com/en/…-a2

The release was put back by 21 days so it was not caught up in the Moto G6 marketing fluff.... it went live yesterday UTC +10

The release is actually on Friday elsewhere, but again, they may well delay it again so it sells more on pre-order which should start being shipped early June!

Getting the powder ice blue one for a friend, who has the Mi A1 and wants the new one as it is so good!

Just because the 5X will be named the 6X does not mean the A1 will be name the A2.
Lets agree to disagree, and wait and see..

I hope the Mi A1 2nd gen has:

Optical image stabilization, and improved camera
NFC
Slightly better battery
Same size 5.5" display
Keep 3.5 for headphones
(Waterproof)
Sub £200 from launch
Xiaomi to open a few stores in the UK! and have a UK based support team

Would you add to this?

Cheers

No worries.. just wanted to clarify my first points that is all, so there is no confusion, the "Mi A1" is the Xiamoi 5x (in asia)... the phone released today, is the "Mi A2" and is the Xiamoi 6x (in asia) it is about £180 for the 4gb and about £220 for the 6gb + 128gb version ((the one I have ordered)) it also comes with Android One, like the A1 did, but this version is enterprise G Suite ready.

There is no band 20 and there is no NFC on the Mi A2 launch models, no doubt a "global version" will come with band 20, but as they have just announced a 5% profit cap on all they sell, do not think they will be that bothered if they do not sell many in the UK without adding the magical band 20!

Was only trying to help with the ins and outs of the specifications, as there is a lot of confusion ((unneeded)) on some deals posted that are showing "asia/china" specs you see

Thanks
I bought a month ago (from AliExpress) and had to pay import fees. It was close to £15 because of Royal Mail's 'handling fee'

Sorry but you are just wrong. The A1 does stand for Android One, and the Mi A1 is also not the same phone as the Xiaomi 5x. The 5x runs Xiaomi's MIUI operating system, and the Mi A1 is basically the Xiaomi 5x running Android One which is vanilla Android - it even says so on Xiaomi's website. The Mi 6x was only just announced yesterday and will again be running MIUI. The Android One version has not been announced yet and will not be called Mi A2 but most likely Mi A1 s/x or whatever to show it's 2nd gen.

If you have ordered an 6x thinking it will come with Android One you are in for a surprise.
Got this phone. It’s great and with Android one I am getting updates every month.

Who was the merchant? Thanks.
Okay I understand now.

This is in effect the future Mi A1 2nd gen:

*nb both links software on device will be different*

bgr.in/gad…-6x

Comparison Mi A1 v Mi A1 2nd Gen

bgr.in/new…nt/

But with Pure android 8.1 Oreo and guaranteed monthly updates and android 'P'

Launch imminent, late May / June 2018

Will I stay loyal to Xiaomi's android one?

I'd like to know the new width of the 2nd Gen, assuming appox the same then 'yes' (I note its slightly taller to accomodate the new 5.99-inch display).

I did have the Nokia 7 Plus as a possibility but at £150 less the Mi A1 2nd Gen seems fine for me.

I wont upgrade till October 2018 (after 12 months) as I'm very happy with my Mi A1 so expect £160 4GB / £180 6GB by then.
My preferred retailer is banggood.

Await reviews.......

*The dropping of the 3.5 headphone socket may be a deal breaker from some.*

Please note all the above is the Chinese version.
For Global android one version naming we will need to wait.

Shame only 3080mah battery, Xiaomi regularly put 4000mah into their phones and it makes a big difference.

OK, thanks. Yes, import fees are possible with AE, but no import fees with Toby (nor EGC).

Was just thinking damn, screen size has gone up. Then realised it's only 3mm taller and is very slightly slimmer. Tempting! Is it the same camera? Says band 20 on that site too?
I bought mine through Aliexpress took just over 2 weeks to get here no import charges £135. Fantastic phone for the money camera is ok after the mod and battery is great. No faults as yet.
Still not changed the camera on my OHs, worth doing?
I thought so. I thought the camera was not as bad as people are making it out to be. Bit of a pain getting the drivers installed but I got there in the end.
Would anyone have any input as to this phone (which I'm so close to purchasing but put off by lack of NFC) or the HTC Desire 10 Pro which is available at £139.99, which seems similarly specced but I can't find any direct comparisons. Torn. My Huawei P9 Lite is dead as a doornail (being held together with tape and hope), and I need something new and sexy sharpish. Was tempted to get the same again, but the P9 Lite - for some reason - is more expensive now than when I purchased a year and a bit ago from CPW, with the P9 not being too much more.

Any advice appreciated.
(If I were to buy the Mi A1, it would be from eGlobal Central. A few quid more to get it within a week)
