I reckon there's a couple of reasons why this is dropping in price. 1st, …I reckon there's a couple of reasons why this is dropping in price. 1st, It's getting it's arse kicked in India by the Honor play. 2nd, the upcoming release of the Pocophone F1, said to be the cheapest phone you'll be able to buy running the SD 845.Xiaomi sold 10 million handsets in the last quarter, most of them probably in India. God knows what will happen if they crack open the American Market? Watch this space.

Judging from the amount of Xiaomi posts on here, I'd say that HUKDeals fans probably bought most of those 10 million, and Xiaomi now consider India a niche market!

Great price.
I'm tempted but will wait till October when my Mi A1 is 12 months old. (and hopefully sub £200)
Staying loyal to Android One and Xiaomi after 10 years with iPhone.

Ps
Would be interested in folks view on the 6GB v 4GB
Thanks!

In spite of US's effort to hinder Hauwei, it managed to get 2nd spot without US market. The key to US market is carriers support.
I can't see them doing that while their politicians are banging their anti-China phone drums.
Xiaomi will do well to start with India & EU.

I've had 5 Xiaomi phones that I found on HUKD in the last 12 months, all for various family members, 2 sold on ebay and 3 still going strong. So I'll have to agree with your logic
Have been available @eglobal for this price and even 5% lower week or two ago. No deal for me if over £200. Xiaomi is becoming with increasing sales expensive.
With no SD card, no NFC, no 3.5mm (which doesn't bother me but I see plenty of people here are still wired) and over £200 price tag it won't sell as hot as xiaomi hopes while joining eu market...
I was checking price nearly month before ordered one not knowing it has no sd slot , now selling on eBay and probably sticking with p20 pro for some time (despite I used xiaomi and recommended it to lots of mates for last 3 years as it fulfills my ideology not having dear materialistic phone: ex owner of rmn3, mi max, rmn4 and rmn5).

Possibly the 'lite' version is cannabalzing sales of the A2 also.

If you haven't guessed, Xiaomi don't care how it will sell over here in western europe, as they don't sell it here. I can see the complaints with no nfc or 3.5mm jack but as someone who has had the Pixel 1 and now had the Pixel 2 128gb, i can't see how people use more on a mobile phone (maybe a tablet though?) This phone goes against the Nokia 6.1 in price and performance but has more RAM and storage so it seems a pretty good deal if you don't use NFC, the price isn't an issue as I can't see another android one device with close to these specs for cheaper? Especially since as it isn't even a UK or EU launch?
This or a Huawei P Smart?

WRONG! Xiaomi launched EU market officialy in Spain with this and lite version on 24.7.18! Google might be your friend before you post something what supposed to be 100% right and turned all wrong!
I don't think personally it was the smartest start with these two here in western Europe.

I agree, but it's because barely anyone uses NFC in China. The main use is for mobile payments, and most Chinese people use AliPay and WeChat Pay which only need a QR code to be scanned.

Home automation is the other use case, but it's quite niche. I use it to turn on/off my lights sometimes, but I wouldn't be bothered about the lack of NFC if it wasn't for Google Pay/Samsung Pay.

Well I got it wrong, calm down this isn't a competition, it's a talk about a budget phone. I still don't think the price is bad, and you cant expect a perfect phone if your only gonna pay £200 for one nowadays sadly.

OK, sorry I didn't mean it that way.
Nokia 8 sub 200 on ebay (or 169 using US code this weekend...search hukd)
Currently same price £230 as A2 on eglobal and toby too...
Snapdragon 835, Zeiss camera, SD slot, NFC and for some must 3.5mm jack= direct competitor to A2.
Just sold my A2 on ebay 20 minutes back because of all that...
I’m seriously thinking about moving to Android from iPhone
Been looking at S9 or Note 9
Is there any advice (pros & cons) you can give if you don’t mind ?!

Thanks in advance

Yes! In term of price vs performance! As I wrote I spent last 3 years with Xiaomi. Love my p20 pro in every aspect apart from price, honestly it's been 10 years since I spent that money for phone. I meant to sell my twilight before A2 turned to be without sd, which you don't sadly find in any review... my bad (but still generated £15 profit with max £3 ebay fee)

Hi
I was loyal to iphone for 10 years. I jumped ship to Android due to the £1,000 price point of 'X' and the slow downs.
I would recommend getting a phone like this and running your iPhone along side for at least 2 weeks before making you mind up.
You could easily sell the A2 on eBay if it didn't work out for you.
I would definitely recommend either pure android or android One.
There will be some things you miss like the apple ecosystem, Mail, hand off etc.
Overall I'm very happy with my Mi A1, rMBP and iPad mini.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions.
Cheers and good luck!

Note 9
Pros

Huge battery (4000mAh)
Headphone Jack with AKG headphones
USB C with quick charge
Quick Wireless charging
Google Assistant
Netflix HDR support
Dual Aperture Camera
Stereo Speaker
Expandable Storage up to 1TB
S Pen now has Bluetooth for remote camera control etc.

Disadvantages
Updates aren't as quick as IOS
Bloatware depending on if you use Facebook and Samsung apps
Updates don't last as long as IOS
Android is more open (which is good) but if not careful can lead to malware.

(that's all I could think on the top of my head sorry! Enjoy :D)
Weird that they cut the battery size on this one.
If only they kept the 3.5mm socket.

The upcoming Honor Play looks like it's going to be the best bang for buck at the midrange when it's released with its 970 Kirin SoC, large 6.3" screen, hybrid dual SIM expandable storage, 3.5mm socket, large 3750 mah battery, GPU turbo, AI assisted gaming haptic feedback in future update, AI assisted cameras that has had very good reviews, decent design and colours available. 4/6GB RAM versions available.

It's become an experimental project for Huawei/Honor with lots of upgrades planned for it.

The only con I can see is that it's not stock Android and not an Android One phone. Oh and not exactly sure if many developers would take advantage of GPU turbo. That's what puts me off. Other than that it really ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of folks and markets. It's going to be priced aggressively too.

Unless Xiaomi release something else to compete with the Honor Play I believe the Honor Play will be the one most folks look at.

Sounds unlikely. Regardless the extra battery would have stood it in good stead and might have reduced the camera bump

My advice would be to take a punt on this and use it for a couple of weeks, then sell it on eBay (for a profit) if you you want to buy something more premium/flagship, or if you find you can't get on with Android. It's a win win.

Depends on what you need (64GB vs 128GB) and what your budget is, but if the price difference between the two isn't that much, go for this. What's the best price you could get for the 64GB version?

Go for it if the price difference is less than £50, double storage and 50% extra RAM is a lot of difference! I made a similar upgrade from the S8 to the S9+ and the S9+ has been running far smoother.

price difference is not significant, i think 187 vs 221. But the 128GB version is only in black while i was hoping to get the blue one
