So far the cheapest deal I found for xiaomi max 2 4GB/64GB.

I was £193 last week, now dropped to £183.

For someone love big phones, it can be used as power bank as well.

Is this a big upgrade from the first one? Love mine but wish the camera was better in low light.
Says £191.14 is there a code to bring price to £183 ?

Bigger battery ! , should have better sound as now twin speakers (when in landscape) and a CPU that uses the power better. Is the camera any better - I've no idea as yet - but I have the same question. So maybe not a huge upgrade for existing Max users (still liking mine a lot)

If you want good and consistent 4G, you will need band 20. If you are happy with 3G and patchy 4G, it won't matter.

4G works just fine for me in Central Scotland on 3 without band 20, not that I need 4G data speeds when I am out, 3G gives me 15MB.
Band 20 only applies to 4g on o2. With other networks it won't be "patchy" as they don't use it at all, it's only O2. So the answer is if you're on O2, look for 4g with band 20,if you're on different network it won't matter to you, only potentially easier to sell as O2 customers will look for it.

Is that why you bought a Chinese phone? Remind us, does it have band 20 along with the 'spyware'?

That is simply not true. EVERY network in the UK now uses Band 20 to some degree for their 4G networks. Originally, Vodafone and O2 were the heavy users and that is probably still true but not having Band 20 definitely means less widespread 4G coverage. For most people, it will make no difference because 3G speeds are perfectly good enough but if 4G matters to you then you will want Band 20:

Yeah, this isn't true. They all use band 20. It's just that O2 *just* uses band 20

I don't care where we live, Sam, Band 20 makes no difference to me. But, like I said, it could just be where I live. We've discussed this before. Pint?

The first question people need to ask is, do I need 4G. For most people, the answer will be no and so the lack of band 20 is not a problem. Sure, it's nice to have faster downloads but for regular browsing and streaming, it makes little difference. However, if you really do need 4G, you shouldn't consider buying a phone without band 20 support.

Consider it non existent and you'll be pleasantly surprised if it works. Returning the phone to China is possible though relatively expensive and often time consuming so wouldn't bother though doa is a different matter.
All our Xiaomi products are proving reliable (oldest is 12 months old) so far.
Guy I am telling you. Xiamo is a new rising star. So it is currently significantly cheaper to their competitors such as Huawei, HTC. As soon as the could penetrate the European and US market the price will be rocketing and you will miss the boat.

I have The 1st edition and I really Love mine. I do not need to carry my Tabs anymore.
If the price dropped to the level below £150 so close to Redmi Note, I will be buying the second one.

I have this phone after ordering from AliExpress a few weeks ago

I have upgraded to a Mi Max 2 in sexy matte black because my old gold colour Mi Max 1 was dropped in a spectacular fashion, cracking the screen and damaging the metal surround.
The build quality on the Mi Max 2 is far superior to the original with a weighty feel and rounded corners - very flagship. The fingerprint scanner has improved on the (already good) original and the battery life is actually somehow better as well! The camera is definitely better from taking a few snaps but I haven't used it enough to give any deeper insight than that.

I paid £190 and £10 odd cashback tracked so I'm happy.

Hi, could you share how the delivery works from China?
Did you get hit with import fees?
What delivery method did you select?
How long did it take you to receive the phone?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but haven't done this before so would highly appreciate you sharing your experience.

Many thanks.

I believe that 3 and EE initially built their 4G networks without band 20 and have only used band 20 to extend their 4G coverage. Hence, you are likely to receive a reasonable 4G service on those networks providing you are not in a rural area or in a heavily built up area.

Hi!

I've bought both phones from the Xiaomi store on Aliexpress and have not been charged import tax. Select the standard free shipping and it will be sent as a $40 gift so no tax. I received both phones in under 2 weeks.

Thanks for the feedback, sorely tempted to upgrade my Mi Max 1, even if just to do a decent review of the Max 2 camera against the Max 1 camera.

is the sound from the speakers better or louder given the new 2 speaker arrangement.

love my Max 1, best phone I've owned

I didn't even know there were 2 speakers now to be honest! The sound is a lot better when listening on loud speaker though. A lot fuller.

I only got a Mi Max 2 because I fully wrecked my Mi Max 1 by dropping it. If you are happy with your Mi Max I don't want to be the person that persuades you to spend 200 on a new model because the phone you have is amazing.

If the Mi Max 2 becomes available at 140 or less via HotUKDeals (like the first one did) you should go for it because it's better than the original in every way. If anyone else is looking for a new handset under 190 quid you won't find anything nearly as good as the Mi Max 2 for the price.

Great phone.

PS infiltrator, when you upgrade and log in to your Xiaomi account it will restore all your apps and home screen. Class.

The dual speakers only work when the phone is in landscape mode, presumably for watching videos etc. if only they can improve the camera (all Xiaomi phones) the the phone would be perfect. I'm probably going for the V2 anyhow, I tend to upgrade every year or so and then sell the old phone while it still has some decent value left in it. My V1 only cost £120 so I shouldn't be losing much upgrading to the V2. Like the look of the black V2 :

With all Chinese/HK sellers, use standard shipping. This will probably (but not definitely) avoid customs etc. charges. Use expedited or tracked shipping and you will almost always get a customs charge,
HI
I am currently using Xiaomi MiMax 1 with Plusnet (EE network) simcard. I get good 4 G coverage to anywhere I am traveling. But I am living in London.
