This is literally the cheapest it's been.
Brilliant phone for the price.
And in my experience (just mine) I've never had a problem with free standard shipping.
Or the official mi seller on aliexpress

Well you're paying £599 for a brand new s9 with a good UK warranty.Or £300 for a great phone, which is nearly a year old, and you'd have to send it to Poland to be fixed.Which probably isn't an issue for most people. You may not get that s9 deal from what people have said. Then again you may. Are you willing to risk it?

I'd take this over any Samsung all day long.

Agree with you, I can guarantee the camera on this is good, they only get a bad wrap because they aren't THE BEST!

I take calculated risks, like investing in shares, not throwing a substantial amount of money at a device with no warranty. I hope that day does come when your £300 device you bought on a Chinese e-commerce website goes bust, then you'll learn and stop being arrogant in the process.

Bit harsh wishing my shiny new Chinese phone from aliexpress breaks. You nasty person. There was no arrogance. Just jokes, but I think half the time my sense of humour doesn't come across on this site, I'm a Geordie, and we are a weird lot.

I've seen your comments on the s9 saga from cpw so I know you know what your talking about . is this in your opinion a comparative offer to the s9

The common theme from reviews seems to be the camera isn't that good.

Like in all Xiaomi phones unfortunately... But what you can expect for these prices?

Me too, I hate Samsung phones, always have done always will do. But the question I was asked was which is the better deal? Not, which is the better manufacturer?..

Totally agree, for what I use my camera for, I don't need the IPhones or Samsungs of the world, I just need something decent for which I can use to take the odd snap!

Love Xiaomi phones, been very good quality for me so far (2 years) just waiting for my mi max phone to give me a reason to replace it !
I have the much cheaper xioami mi A1 and the camera is very good to be fair. Potrait mode is great which utilises both cameras. Obviously, like most, low light affects things dramatically

Samsung is much better with Oled screen, works as computer as well. Also so many Samsung accessories

Depends on what you consider 'good'

I've got a Mi 6, I think the camera is very good indeed though not as good as my mate's S8.

Saying that I believe that the Mi Mix 2 camera is not as good as the Mi 6, but I presume it is still 'good enough' for 99% people

I'm not doubting how good Samsung phones are of late.
But every time I use one, I'm just taken back to my old s3, it just seems like they are living in the dark ages in terms of software, I've always hated touchwiz. But I do appreciate they are great handsets, just not for me! #personalchoice
Question is, who'd rather have this or the oneplus 5t?

Just say both were the same price, and both from the UK?

Tough choice there...

Assuming both were equally priced, available from the same, legit UK seller etc, I think I'd take the OP5T. For no other reason than the near stock Android OP phones have is great and my OP3 is still really quick nearly 2 years after I bought it. It's certainly in a far better state than my previous phone, a Galaxy Note 2, was in after 2 years.

That said, I'm very tempted by the upcoming Mi Mix 2S, it looks to be a great device...I just know I don't need it at all!

You may not need it, but the need for wanting it, beats the need for needing it! Or something like that
Would buy a Xiaomi in an instant if there was any kind of warranty I could believe in.

Incredible that they still don't have any meaningful infrastructure here.
I've had a giant red-flag in my mindset whenever I see the word Xiaomi after the debacle that was the MiPad - literally the worst tech purchase I've ever made. Great hardware specs on paper, especially in late 2014 when I bought it. But the worst software ever, rendering the device all but unuseable (regardless of how many times I tried installing different versions). My Galaxy s2 with custom firmware felt significantly more responsive and a fraction of the horsepower.

Has my bios continued on too long? I've never been unhappy with a Samsung device frankly, and have been looking at upgrading my Note 4 to a good deal on an S8 in a week or two when then inevitable drop comes (hoping for sub £400 from a reasonable retailer). Should I be considering a Mi Mix 2 or perhaps OnePlus 5T?

Last I heard it was issues with patents, which for the size of the UK/Euro zone market compared with the Chinese market isn't worth them bothering with.
Just bit the bullet and ordered it. Bought the 9 lite through these a little while back, so am literally taking a dive into the deep, but I'm a risk taker, no risk no reward. Selling for nearly £500 on ebay.
Good luck if it develops a fault!
Can anyone recommend a better deal than this, in this price range? I am looking for a Chinese smartphone that is slick, good camera and battery, and USBC. I don't care about processor and ram as I don't play games. Thanks

Don't need luck. Will need a bloody miracle, if it develops a fault, it'll be the first phone I've ever had that did.

I would still only buy from a EU/UK based retailer.

Because you aren't a risk taker. I'm saving £200 from a eu/uk price, and even the sellers on eBay look dodgy.
No risk, no reward
I have the mi mix and its a beast of a phone, runs like a dream with the 6gb ram and battery life is brilliant. One problem as someone mentioned earlier is the camera which is fine for me but not that great but that does apply to most xiaomi phones

Where did you acquire it?
Seeing as how exchange rate is falling at the moment it's currently £311.77. if you wait till tomorrow then could be over £320!

Not saying it will or trying to be negative but could potentially be! 🤔

not aliexpress, think it was banggood or the other main one i cant for the life of me remember right now....i paid £350 if iirc
If the price for both were equal, it would have to be the OP5T for me.
I have a OP3 and it's still fantastic, as someone has said it has near vanilla android and is well supported by the custom ROM community. This Xiaomi on the other hand, has to have play store installed, this will either have to be done by the retailer (if you trust them or the ROM version) or yourself. While it maybe well supported the phone still has to be tinkered with to used to a "Normal" standard
