I was wondering what the difference was between this & the other cheaper Mix 2s deals, & realised this is for the larger 128Gb version (the others were 64Gb, with 6Gb being the constant).

Also found there's a 8Gb + 256Gb version, & this AE seller (Mi Global Store) appears to be the cheapest at the moment at £528.20 - also says no VAT/duty to the EU & 5-8 day DHL delivery: aliexpress.com/ite…tml

"4.Is it true that the customs duty & VAT is free for the EU by DHL?
Yes, we guarantee customs duty & VAT is free. It's safe and fast!"

Yeah this is for the 128gb version, which people automatically down vote because they don't read the title and just compare it to the 64gb prices hovering around £350-£380.

Ive only ever bought one thing from toby, that being an htc Evo 10 for £105.99, and it came with I think UPS.

No customs nothing. They must ship from an EU warehouse.

As for the aliexpress you mention, I've never used the DHL option, so really can't comment, I tend to just stick with the free delivery, and if I incur customs, then so be it.
Looking at this again after the Lenovo Z5 disaster. Vivo nex will probably be too expensive
Are these phones the global versions or do you need to flash ROMs like you do if buying via joybuy?

They will "guarantee" you anything to get your cash, and then if you do get stung its your issue with zero comeback, be very very dubious of a seller with nothing to lose!
Having said that, great price for a great handset, just a lot to risk... do i or dont i!!!
You sure this is the Global Version? can't see global mentioned anywhere on the product page

It doesn't state it isn't.

By default I would assume it's the Chinese version then. You can install the global firmware however you need to get phone's bootloader unlocked which takes some time (between 72 and 360 hours). But then you have to keep the bootloader unlocked to use it, which means certified apps won't work, such as android pay etc. This is a known issue since Xiaomi changed their policy.

Some dodgy dealers are selling the Chinese version and putting on global firmware on it.

In addition to a description saying it's the official global version you can also tell if a product is global if the factory fitted screen protector has English writing on it and not Chinese in addition to the box. The Chinese version has a Chinese writing on it.

That's a lot of wrong.

Bootloader can be unlocked in 72 hours
Flash global and relock bootloader all done by the Xiaomi tool.
Android pay and all apps such as banking apps work fine.

You sure? According to official forums it does not work. Locking the bootloader causes bootloops :

I've flashed the global rom to my phone and accidently let it lock the bootloader again but now it won't start because of the error "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".

Very sure. Did it myself.
Followed instructions on the site.
Only difference between the Chinese version and global is the software and writing. Other than that they should be identical.

Wait a sec you might be right. I did it on the Mix 2.
It looks like there is a Mix 2S variant that they prevent from doing that.
Interesting, so basically they're blocking Chinese phones from the Global market.
Perhaps to do with their expansion plans.

Yeah can imagine.
Good you pointed it out.
Global from here on it seems, unless one can live without Android pay and secure apps.
