About £15 cheaper than the previous longstanding pre-order from AliExpress and the cheapest I can find in the current market, although I may be wrong.

This is a direct competitor to the iPhone X and S9/S9 plus, camera and performance reviews show it rivalling and occasionally beating these 2 devices despite being 20-40% cheaper, which is cool.

This is personally going to probably be my next phone in a month or so. I was waiting for Xiaomi to get photography right before buying a Mix device, and boy they have.

Specs:

5.99'' 2160x1080 FHD+ IPS LCD display
Snapdragon 845 Octa-Core CPU (same as S9/S9 Plus variant)
Adreno 630
6GB RAM
64GB storage
Dual 12+12MP AI cameras, Sony IMX363 sensor, optical zoom, portrait mode, Dual PD focus
5MP Front camera
7.5 Wireless Charging and USB-C Quckcharge 3.0
3400mA battery
Bluetooth 5.0
Dual SIM
Four sided curved ceramic body

Also comes with a matching colour case which is nice ^^

I will be waiting to see if I can get it a little cheaper closer to launch, but for those who want to guarantee a phone, as it may sell out very quick, this is a good price.

Once you replace the launcher and apply a stock theme i found there were some valuable additional features. Built in call recorder for example. Don't get me wrong, stock android all the way. I don't know why vendors make the additional work for themselves for the debatable value added

It's even cheaper if you can buy in in USD without paying any fees; it works out to ~£415.
nice spec but bad security updates if you value security. but that is the price you pay with imported Chinese phones. wish they would make android one versions of their flagships.

I was tempted but waiting for either the pixel 3 or nokia 8 pro.

Is this something I could do with Revolut? My bank card would charge me fees.

Such a shame they don't do an android One version.
I do understand some like Miui, but it's not everyones liking.

Great phone but no sd expansion...thus better getting the 128gb version......would like to see a global version release from a EU web site.....
Personally quite like MIUI for it's customisation settings, particularly the Themes store which has a stupid amount of themes which make my phone look and feel completely different. In-lay call recording is also excellent and very handy for when salespeople or HMRC are lying ^^

I prefer stock Android yes, but I have had 2 Xiaomis in a row now so MIUI feels like home. Really quite like it.

I do wish Xiaomi in general would do a Samsung and offer hybrid Dual SIM/SD.

You can pick up the 128GB version for about 40-60 more on various Aliexpress sellers, although I would say that if you're maxing out 64GB, then you're either wasting space with apps or packing a serious amount of hi-res vids/pics/songs.

Yip, i used Nova and then a stock Android theme, still annoys me every now and then but works OK for me...
Use code KIMOVILMIX2S at checkout brings price down to £424.85

also if you pay in dollars using a no foreign transaction fee mastercard like halifax clarity and use the above code the price comes down to £412.81

Yes, you could buy in USD fee free using a Revolut card.
Tempting! Might wait till after release. I'm sure they'll drop sub 400 then
No headphone jack is what drags it down for me.
Needs android one imo
I have the mix 2 and it's a great phone. If I'm honest, coming from IOS, I really like MIUI...each to their own I guess
And we should add import charges ?

I have never been charged for customs on free Airmail, although I know rarely some people get caught. I wouldn't worry.

Use DHL or similar faster methods and you will 100% pay customs.
I didn’t realise this had been posted, I had tried searching. I wouldn’t have bothered posting the mi fan sale deal had I seen this.

Yeah that’s my thinking and since it won’t ship for another 18 days or whatever it’s just better to wait. Probably. This is the current lowest price it has been though.
Like you (op) I've been out off these so called "cheaper flagship killers" because my experience and what I've seen is the cameras aren't up to the incredible standards os Samsung and Apple. First review I looked at for this (tech radar) list as as a summary negative "camera could be better". Where have you seen that the camera is great on this?

The camera (for still pictures) on this got a 101 from dxomark (the S9 got a 104, Pixel 2 got a 99) - the video element on this got a slightly worse 88, but for still pictures it is up there with the best.

I think possibly you were looking at the review for the Mi Mix 2 which was out last year.

As bob said, I think you may be looking at the Mix 2.

I have watched reviews from C4etech (a favourite of mine as covers alot, good vids), techline, the verge, etc... and they all say the camera is superb.

In fact on the C4etech youtube, they do a blind test with the Mix 2s vs iPhone X vs S9, and the results are very interesting ^^

This is my paranoia, will it actually go down or will it increase upon launch and slowly take 2-3 months to get back down to sub 400?

Or will it sell out?

The fear

Ah yes I think I probably was. Thanks for clearing that up gents, my mistake
Great price but I'd advise against pre-ordering with Geekbuy.

Last time I pre-ordered the Mi A1 and they kept changing the dispatching date. I was waiting for nearly a month when they increased the waiting time to another 25 days.

Tried to cancel the order to no response and had to get Paypal involved.

No experience so I couldn’t say, I expect it will be popular as they’ve hyped it a lot but again no experience perhaps they hype a lot of their phone and things up.

It seems to me that the trend has been for the price to drop and the recent p20 pricing made my mind up despite being an entirely different company.

It was out at 599 and lots of people got a free gift to try and sell for around 200 and then on release price went down to 400 so the gift for a lot was a waste of time and for others they could just buy it separately.

Thanks for the heads-up never had experience pre ordering with them but had no issues on already released phones

Well going off the number of pre orders on the grey sites, which seem to be numbers like 18 or 27 or 8 and certainly not the hundreds, you should be right.

Never know with Xiaomi though I remember previous Mix devices selling out quite quickly
It is odd that the majority of their devices have had really sub par cameras until now too. I don’t know if that is representative of the market; they don’t want wireless charging and they don’t want a good camera. If that’s the case then demand could be low as the mix 2 would be a much better value option.

I’ve seen a lot of deals for other handsets, the s8 posted here today for 440, for instance. It occurs to me that Xiaomi will perhaps have similar offers popping up and I’m not so worried, it will want to compete and a lot of people will be tempted by s8 over this at that price point.

Just wanted to reassure you but I don’t know what I’m talking about so hey there’s that too.
