And who'd have thought xiaomi would be the cheapest

Oh wait, I know, me!!!
When Mix 3 is £300-400 on sale, I couldn't justify paying double for 5G. Heat added of course as this is a great discount from RRP

I don't think this will get the headlines or heat it really deserves because this is a great price for a 5G phone.

Yeah I know 5G is incomplete and still in its infancy but networks are settling 5G contracts in phones and sim only tariffs so... If you live in London, Manchester and Birmingham and want to make hay... Why don't do so at the cheapest price for 5G?
Wow that's pricey.

Not a fan of the slider camera. Wish they'd made a 5G Mi 9.
Suppose they might.

Would rather get the s10 5g grade a from cex for 690.

I personally wouldnt spend that much money on a xiaomi device.
Off topic I know, buts what's the most reliable far east site for phones? Think I'll take a punt for my next phone, on my credit card obviously.

That's probably because you are one of those that only buy Apple or Samsung or Michael Kors because "it's a well known and respected brand". And half of the money goes to that even if there are other products just as good or even superior. I've had my poco f1 since October and no issues whatsoever, no crashes, no bugs, loads of OTA updates (they even added widivine), battery still lasts more than a day, it does not become warm let alone hot, and I can go on and on. Paid £269 for it. Meanwhile my wife's Samsung all fancy and made of glass has to be recharged twice a day after 1 year. Can't even go out of the house without taking a charger or external battery with. Joke

Yes. Buy the Samsung with its inferior Exynos SoC....at £690 for a secondhand slower phone

or

£666 for a brand new Xiaomi with the Snapdragon 855 SoC....

Brand loyalty is a mug's game....

Even better forget 5G handsets until they are a sensible price and the networks are ready, buy a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro for under £400 instead....now that is a beast of a phone at a silly cheap price.

Realistically what are you going to do with 5G that you can't already with 4G (and half the time your 5G handset will be reverting back to 4G anyway)

Wonda Mobile were great when I had a faulty phone off them.

They gave me an address to send it back to them. Royal Mail don't allow mobile phones to be sent abroad, due to battery restrictions, so I had to use a courier at a cost of over £45, but they reimbursed me fully for that too.

A company always shows it's true colours when it comes to returns and I was very impressed with Wonda.

I've used them a few times in the past without any issues but I'll definitely use them again now I know they actually help you if you have a problem.

They aren't the cheapest Chinese etailer, but you get what you pay for.
HOW MUCH!?!?! When did Xiaomi phones get expensive?!?!?!?!

No excuse for price increase when hardly no networks support it and there are cheaper 5G phones.
By the end of the decade, I doubt there'll be any phones under £1000.

I agree, but where are there cheaper 5G phones?
As far as I know RRP is £550 in Europe. Don't think it's a good price. Also 5G doesn't make sense now expect you live in Corea, China or Switzerland.
How is that hot when the regular Mix 3 is half that? I still haven't got reception in my kitchen in London so don't say because it's 5G.

I feel so much better now. It's all about the crazy 5G speeds with no real application atm.

I am a Xiaomi fan and using one right now as my daily driver but have to agree with WajAll.

Its got nothing to do with brand snobbery. In 2 years time, the Samsung will still be sold on for about £150 where as I would have to find a nephew/niece/poor cousin to give the Xiaomi to.
Cheaper brand new for sure. If you don't mind looking on ebay or gumtree you can find quite a few mint or even sealed s10 5g's for about £650-700 if you really need 5g for some reason.

Even if 5g was in my area i wouldn't pay extra for a 5g phone yet since i have no need for 300mbps+ on a phone just to browse social media while im outside the house or maybe watch a bit of youtube like most people will do with their phones. 4G does just fine with that with no issues. Even if 5g is in your area excpect poor coverage due to the high frequences used to achieve the faster speeds which have poor penetration.

5G will eventually be worth imo once the coverage is good enough and 5g phones start to come down majorly in price. And even then most consumers will have to think what actual benefits 5g will actually provide them day to day. Just my little rant on 5g.

This phone is quite nice although the biggest weakness is probably its cameras which are not bad however you can find much better cameras for this price range. 3800mah is also a nice extra boost over the 4g's 3200 however the phone is 1mm thicker and heavier to compensate for that. Which the phone is already quite heavy due to the ceramic back

Downloading and streaming 4k...
5G is heavy advertised by Huawei here in Switzerland but I haven't seen anyone using it yet.

Downloading and streaming 4k...

And watching on a 6 inch phone.... casting to a TV maybe but then you'd just use wi-fi. Data packages for mobile providers generally more pricey too but wonder if 5g will lead to much cheaper unlimited data oackages?!?
ElgyVeeten17/08/2019 09:27

In the tube?

I'm in a 5G country... Costs an extra £7 on top of whatever package you have - I have unlimited data not this absolute nonsense 20Gb for £1000 etc
Is this really the cheapest 5G handset available?

I've had a huawei p10 since launch and its been great. Small enough to fit in the pocket of the jeans and joggers. I noticed all the latest phones seem to be so big you can't even put them in your pocket. What is all that about?

Price also seem to be rapidly rising. Soon we'll see phones for £1000 and £1500.

Anyway, I am with three, so 5G will be free as part of the package. So im looking for a small sized 5G phone for when 5G hits the country, im guessing by 2020? or hoping.
