Anyone know if this is a Global Rom? It say's it has Google Play Store but if someone could confirm that would be great
slightly smaller battery, slightly lower resolution rear camera. My Note 4 has 4GB RAM which is plenty. Not sure I would want to spend another £100 to get this.

Mi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 are quite different I thought, Redmi Note 4 more of an entry low price model, this higher end, higher price, better camera etc. This is similar to the mi 6, but cheaper and bigger screen from what I gather.

I realise that the Redmi phones are more entry-level but they are so good I would question spending another 100 quid for a phone with a smaller battery and more RAM than I need
Only had my Redmi Note 4 for a short time but am soooooooo impressed with it. 4gb RAM and 64gb storage.

Prior to this I had a Vernee Mars and then a Bluboo S1, and this blows both out of the water.

It's so well put together and the software is super quick and intuiative. I'm not even tempted to start tweaking it with ROM's etc, it's great out of the box.

The 4 is also about £100 less than the 5 so it's all about what you want to spend, and whether there's anything for it (can't see it myself)
Both great phones but let down with no ois.

I agree love my Redmi note 4 brillaint phone. I was close to ordering the Redmi 5 plus last night when I came across this. Thought the spec was intersting and well priced.

It's my understanding that the Mi Note 3 has the same camera setup as the Mi6 so it should have OIS.

A much faster chipset than the Redmi Note 4 as well. I don't think any of the Mi Note 3's have LTE Band 20 support, however, which may be an issue, depending on your preferred network provider.

The title page does say Official Global MIUI OTA Upgrade .. maybe that's a clue?
(plus the list of languages available)
Mi note 3 has OIS and the Dual Camera is really good, using the portrait mode quite often and getting some great shots of the kids. Lower resolution doesn't always mean worse. Battery is great, can push 8+ hours SOT if necessary.

I've got the black mi note 3, love the design and feel in hand. I'm happy with mine anyway and don't regret spending £200+ on it.

Cheers. I am really tempted by this. Main draw back of my Redmi Note 4 is the camera but I don't think it's especially 'bad' just could be better.
Which of the xiaomi range offers decent value with a nice camera? I have the redmi note 3 snapdragon chip & overall am super impressed over the last year but would like a nicer camera lens without jumping to the mi6 say? Though I see there has even deals on those at times?
Redmi Note 4 owner here. Can speak from experience that by rooting the phone and installing the Google Camera app with HDR+, your photos are MUCH better.

Loads of guides all over the web to do this and I'm certainly no expert (far from it!). Still have stock MIUI on my phone even with the above. Only issue is that OTA system upgrades removes the root (so I just do it again afterwards).

No Xiaomi phones have a decent camera or at least post-processing to maximise the mediocre hardware - it's where they save money. Just get the Pixel camera APK and use that to get something like the best out of it.

If you want a 'good' camera then it's Pixel / Pixel 2, Galaxy / Note, or iPhone really.

Here's a decent Mi Note 3 camera review from a reputable website.

Great specs and with NFC too. No B20 or micro SD card expansion though. The search continues.

Thanks for your thoughts & suggestions, I will have a look at the app you mention. I was thinking that the better xiaomi handsets did have a better lens. I would say the quality of image on this is OK in ideal conditions but must say in difficult lighting situations it's not great at all. I always used to have HTC, and Google nexus phones but must say the iPhone has a decent image nowadays after being pretty poor in the past but still charging a premium for it. Jumping from £100 to about £500 is a big jump of course. Maybe say an older Samsung s7 model would offer a nicer image. Hmmm overall everything else is pretty nice going on the xiaomi. I almost feel you need to carry a separate camera if you want quality images though at times.

As the Dxomark review linked shows, this is not the case. The Mi6 and Mi Note 3 have very good cameras indeed. A pity the Mi Mix 2 doesn't have the same camera module or I'd have considered that one when I got a new phone late last year.

The camera on the Mi6 and Mi Note 3 perhaps isn't quite as good as an high-end Samsung/Pixel/Huawei/etc phone, but still very good indeed, especially when you consider that they can be had for a fraction of the price of those flagship devices. Usual caveats apply about the potential 'risks' of buying from China, of course.
Well, it's got a bigger screen and a bigger battery.

However, in comparison to the Xiaomi device, I'd imagine the Ulefone camera will be poor, reliability not so good, build quality nowhere near and future updates non-existent. The MTK chipset in that phone is also a lot, lot slower than the Snapdragon in the Mi Note 3.

Apples versus oranges as far as meaningful comparisons go.
I cannot believe the rubbish people keep writing about Xiaomi phones or any Chinese phone.Especially the camera.

You cannot go wrong buying any Xiaomi product, the brand has a reputation for quality and are one of the largest manufactures.
I have an Mi Max and lots of people have commented on how good the photos are.
There are lots if free camera apps on Android from zoom to effects.

In my experience all phones suffer from daylight photos, in that with a screen protector on and sun light you can have problems seeing the screen.

If you are that worried then buy a camera.
I have tried to order this twice but my payment keeps failing. I'm paying by card (First Direct) as there is an £8 charge for PayPal anyone experienced something similar?

I'm getting paranoid that 219.49 x 2 is going to disappear from my account!!!
No external sd card...pass.

Stating DXO as reputable is stretching it if you understand anything as to how they put their scores together.

In a nutshell, they come across as scientific yet their weightings and ranking of categories is entirely subjective. That and they 'work' (get paid) with some manufacturers to miraculously have a full camera breakdown on that particular devices release date. Lifting an embargo you say? Nope... because they 'select' which devices to 'review' immediately.

Look back at the Sony Z5 launch and how that camera was lauded as the best ever. Simultaneously Sony have billboard ads on release day boasting the best rated camera on a phone with a DXO logo on it. Of course, there were a lot of disappointed buyers when they use it to find horrendous shutter lag causing blurry shots, barrel distortion, chromatic aberration, noise, etc... all because this wasn't objectively assessed.

An introduction to their dubious rankings:
