Rather get an iPad. Put in abit more and it’ll last MUCH longer

Have you had a Xiaomi product? They are really well built - possibly better than Apple or on par. Apple hardware may last long but it has built-in obsolescence and after a couple of years it grinds to a halt...

Hot for tablet , cold for AliExpress.

So does that mean you didn't vote seen as they cancel each other out?? if so why bother commenting at all?

Will that iPad to which you speak of be around this sort of price for an LTE/4G-enabled version though?.

Or is it more likely to clear near a £500-£600+ ceiling instead ...

Nice find. Have my eye on this.
30 day wait time to unlock the bootloader on these - request the box is sealed so no bloat or dodgy ROMs installed.

It’s cheaper and easier to just hotspots your iPad from your phone and the new iPad which came out this year you can pick up for around £300 in John Lewis

Don't need one myself (although I want one). Great price tho.
So tempting. The only thing that lets it down is widewine support for HD netflix.

Couldn't agree more, I have an Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (4GB/64GB) - for almost 1 Year now, and an Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 8 inch (4GB/64GB) non-LTE/4G version - for a 1 Month or so, and I can't fault either of them, in both build quality, and/or speed and performance ...

They're very decent machines for sure.

As for this other bit: "Apple hardware may last long but it has built-in obsolescence and after a couple of years it grinds to a halt... "

That's extremely unneccessary politics that ... :-(
Got great tablet. Also found a accessories for it on amazon cheap. amazon.co.uk/Fon…1_1

This is what people don't realise when going for cheap android tablets. The lack of DRM not only affects Netflix, but others to.
I’m a big fan of xiaomi products and have a mi pad 4 (8 inch) version on its way from gearbest, we also have 3 xiaomi phones in the household, however you can get an iPad 2018 9.7inch from eglobal for about £260 which comes with full apple warranty.

i also have an amazfit and house is full of Yeelight’s, plus a dashcam

I have got the mi pad 4. Bought it to take on holiday and was amazing. I must say, the PPI hasn't changed between the mi pad 4 and mi pad 4 plus. So I'd advise to get the non plus myself. Was big enough for me, coming from an iPad Air 2...
I dont think you will get for this price but hope some people do, many ali shops did the same marketing and false advertising as last year. So many sellers put a cheap price on the 'out of stock selection' so you couldnt buy it, but you never know you could be lucky
I think these come with Chinese ROM preinstalled and there is no official global ROM. Meaning there will be no Google play store or other Google apps installed, you will have to download them yourself.
Damn. I knew some Xiaomi products didn’t have DRM, but didn’t expect this tablet to join the club

You will also pay MUCH more. Depending on the model of iPad you could buy this 3 times over for the equivalent amount of storage on an iPad.

Personally I wouldn't buy another tablet regardless of the manufacturer, however Xiaomi do make some quality devices.

I read on twitter that although it doesnt have L1 Widevine support as it has a 660 SOC it should support Netflix at HD (720) which should be more than watchable on the 10"

I bought an iPad air and air 2. Still got it but not for much longer. As a power user the amount I can do on the mi pad 4 over the iPad is ridiculous. Custom ROM, unlocked bootloader so I can remove all the crap from my apps (ads, in app purchases etc), free apks, connects perfect to my server and synology. This doesn't mean I don't like apple products, everything I use is apple related. Macbook, iPhone, iPods etc. But this as a tablet is much better than an iPad any day. I'm selling my iPad air 2 64gb.... Any takers?!
Can this cast?
Can anyone confirm if the LTE version of mi pad4 has phone functionality? If so, do you need to use bluetooth or does it have earpiece ?

You do manually install the play services and store. On the mi site there is the official Google app which installs it all for you. You literary click next allow next allow until it's done.

Not certain, I’m still waiting for delivery from gearbest, however comments on the gearbest site basically said it was easy to install google apps so I didn’t investigate further

So is there no official global ROM for this then?

Installing gapps is fairly straightforward in of itself but there are a lot of disadvantages to using a China ROM in the UK, especially if you don't read Chinese and have no interest in Chinese culture.

Thats great news. Thanks for that. I need to check if amazon prime is affected as well but most of the content I watch is Netflix. Roll on 11/11

That Twitter Netflix CS seems clueless. Scroll up and see the prior comments. They don't even seem to be aware of what Widevine DRM is and eventually just said "any device using the Snapdragon 660 chipset should stream in HD" based on what help section says but Widevine DRM support is the key factor, not the chipset. The help section also states SD845 supports Netflix HD which is what it has said since before Pocophone was released (see comment here<). However, if certain chipsets guaranteed Netflix HD then there wouldn't be countless tech sites stating that the lack of L1 Widevine support on Pocophone means it doesn't support Netflix HD.

Do you ever have to pay import tax or any fees from AliExpress?

Apple devices down last long at all, in fact they have been sued for deliberately slowing down devices.

I bought an Ipad 1 back in the day. That was my last apple product due to slowness and jutter after just one update.

Yeah true, however you can get modified apks for HD and ultra HD Netflix on XDA so always worth a look.

On another not kernel for Mi Pad 4 not released yet so no movement on custom ROMs yet but as it's a Snapdragon 660 when it does it will be a beast of a unit!!
