Just a heads up as this tablet is really well specced for the money
Also available in 4gb/64b guise for about £230, but note it has microSD.
A decent well-specced 8" tablet with a good resolution screen and a fast processor. Same processor as Nokia 7 plus - antutu is decent and as it has a microsd slot it would be good as a portable media tablet and for some gaming (eg with ppsspp).
6000mah battery so should have good battery life too.

There are a lack of mid priced android tablets with a decent processor and this seems to stand out.

There may finally be a replacement for my original Mi Pad.
Does it have HDMI output?
At last an android tablet to get excited about. Shame about lack of front facing speakers though

No, it doesnt look like it.
For media playback/streaming on a tv you may as well just use a fire stick or chromecast etc.
Would have been handy for the odd game though.

You're right, there are literally no new decent Android tablets around, other than the Tab S3 which is very overpriced for dated tech. I'm still using my Sony Z3 Compact Tablet as I couldn't find anything better. This might be it though.

Fair enough. Was looking for a tablet to take to US soon and wanted something to plug into tv. I find chrome casts don’t work with hotel Wi-fi. Last time used a HUDL2.

Ditto, using an LG gpad 8.3 running lineagos and with that it spanks anything sub £150 despite being ancient!
I'm.using a fire tab 10 for my tablet use, (mainly for watching films and playing games when traveling) it's good but feels a tad cheap and isn't the quickest, tempted by this, been out of the flashing game for a while, easy enough to put play store on ?
No GPS (if that is a deal breaker). However there is on the LTE version, which is also a bargain but currently not out for roughly another month.
Is there taxes to pay on arrival ?

Any chance of a link of the steps to do this, have a gpad 8.3 still running original Android OS and some apps are no longer compatible

Does this support fast charging or will it eventually? That is a deal breaker for me these days
Would like a 10 inch. Do they do this?
So let me get this straight, vs the Mi Pad 3, it’s thicker, heavier, has a 10% smaller battery, worse quality screen (2k vs 1080p), less RAM, the same f2.2 13MP camera…

Fine the chipset is decently improved, and there's SD support and slightly buffered Bluetooth...

But I picked up the Mi Pad 3 ages ago for under 200 notes. This doesn’t impress me in the slightest tbh, feels more like a sidestep than a step forward.

My mi pad 1 still rocking

To be fair the chipset and reduced resolution will see this last far longer in battery. If I remember correctly the 3 had no sd card slot? Probably fair to say it is a sideways upgrade but given the terrible state of the android tablet market this is pretty good compared to what else is around

Agreed on the battery side, but it's not as if the 3 has battery issues, it has amazing battery, so why lose the great screen?

Yes SD card is great perhaps for some, but for me and I believe most people 64GB is more than enough storage.

I get your points and don't disagree with you, it's just a frustratingly pointless upgrade from a company that usually does quite well with sequels.

Yes agree it would be useful to save carrying another device but I use a firestick in hotels because it leaves the tablet free for surfing and a firestick is a doodle to link to the hotel wifi with any android app then available. Plus a usb C to hdmi cable for a tablet with a power inlet costs about £15 and is as bulky as a Fire Stick anyway. When amazon have them for £29.95 I think they are a good deal for general use. You can also run apps on the fire stick that enable you to cast from a tablet eg AllCast and others, which are worth considering for another hotel friendly feature.
Went for Huawei m5 8.4 when it was on Amazon sale. Much better performance vise+screen

Current price is about £100 dearer that this tablet and antutu is similar so the Huawei is not a better deal currently
Looks like a nice tablet though so worth looking out for a special offer if it ticks more boxes for anyone.
Thanks for pointing this tablet out. Hadnt spotted it. Hope they do one with the Kirin 970!

Just the 16gb internal capacity issue any way to increase as most apps want internal storage

I guess it depends on your needs I would gladly take the 16:10 screen with a slightly lower resolution than a slightly higher one at 4:3. Better for media content and it's not a though 1920*1200 is limiting on web content.

But in general I agree it's not moved on a great deal.

Do you have a link mate?
Does is support SIM card and voice calling ?
- Does anyone know if this has a finger print reader?
- Which CPU has better performance the snapdragon 660 in the MiPad 4 or the Kirin 960 on the Huawei Media Pad M5?
- Does Xiaomi regularly role out new OS updates?
£160 on eglobal if anyone is interested..
Seen conflicting reports here with regards to expandable storage, anyone confirm?

I'm using an Asus 3S10. It's a very decent 9.7" tablet with a better screen than the one on the latest iPad.

But most things have a better screen than the latest iPad! It won’t beat the Pro or Mini 4 (yes, the Pro is expensive). The CPU also looks a little suspect but it would be a good contender for a decent Android tablet, just must’ve been poorly advertised as I haven’t heard much about it.
So this has the Chinese rom and the global rom isn't available, what is the impact of that? Anything?
