Nice and cheap for this. They do require the Xiaomi Multi-Function Gateway to be used, so can't be used alone. No codes or anything, just add to basket and check out

Anyone know if this will work with a SmartThings hub? Since it's Zigbee it should at least communicate. It's not on the list of supported devices on the SmartThings website, but I don't know if that list is exhaustive. This is approximately one fifth of the price of the SmartThings door sensor so it would be rather nice if it does work.

I have the mijia hub and also would like to know if any zigbee device would work with the hub be it smarthings or xaomi.

I'm using them with zigbee2mqtt in Home Assistant with no issues or extra effort other than normal pairing so would imagine SmartThings have them working without issue.

Go to community.smartthings.com and search for xiaomi device handlers. It will not work without them.

Personally I'm beware of Wifi IoT devices, since you'll need quite a bit of them for different purposes and to cover the whole home.
And with lots of devices connected a router may struggle.

My router has loads tapping off it... wired an wireless... no issue

Routers can handle hundreds of devices (or at least a half decent one can), so this shouldn't be an issue

I use them with Samsung Smartthings, just set up the correct device handler as mentioned above.

I have them working with my smartthings hub quite happily. Thing to note is that they are cloud not locally handled.

That says works with both Echo and Google Home. Be good if works with IFTTT so you can get notifications or trigger other actions.

I'd be more concerned with the security aspects. Lots of unpatched IoT backdoors on your WiFi...

I too have done this using a raspberry pi (+ USB zigbee sniffer). It's a really good home tech. project - soon to include the Mijia Door sensor as posted here
