Agree. Had this since early 2018 and makes a difference.
Are they any good doing the stairs?
No stairs but I would buy this again if mine broke. It's amazing!
Agree with all the above, I have the same model over 2 years and still going strong, battery is as good as day 1. I do run the battery down to nearly 0 every 6 month and full charge to keep the battery in check. It's so nice to come home and see it's been cleaned and it even leave lines in the carpets so it look fresh too. I know the newer models haven't changed much , just the mopping feature is added. Note this doesn't give you room options like in the newer models do, so you can specify what rooms to clean etc just have to leave all the doors open

Are you sure this doesn't do room mapping with a software update? Mine does which is only 4 months old... Looks identical but may be a different model.
How does this cope with moving between downstairs and upstairs?

Most of my downstairs is hard floor except for the living room and office and for some reason this robot just can't function on it. It seems to just go mental and circle around the same spot for 20 mins. I wouldn't say it's a high ply carpet either, just a standard new build speckled option. That's my finger pressed in it below.

I tried covering the sensors underneath with white card but that didn't help.

If anyone knows a robot that is good with carpets I'd love to know!

EDIT - I was talking about a different model:

You canhotukdeals.com/dea…117

It can save floor maps. The one time I took mine upstairs it tried to map a new floor (failed as it's all carpet upstairs - see my earlier post) then I just took it back downstairs and selected my downstairs map and it was off again!

Depends on the owner, if you struggle, it will struggle. In short, you have to take it upstairs and it does not clean the stairs. If it did do stairs as well it would be 15/10 but overall its still a great product.
I don't expect

I don't understand your point... some robovacs can map multiple floors, and others can't... I'm asking if this can map two floors.

Thanks for this... I'll keep a look out for that other model being on sale again.

Sorry, didnt get that, thought you were like the other poster asking if it can go up and sown the stairs by itself.

I havent done extensive studies but i think it mainly just uses its LIDAR to map out the rooms on the fly rather than memorizing the layout. In the app you see it building it each time.
I picked this up and it arrived at the weekend, thanks Op it's brilliant.

One question I have for those with more experience. Can you map a no go zone? I have some bar stools with a sloped base and it tries to vacuum up and around these every outing. I'd like to exclude them from the cleaning job.
These any good at doing stairs or curtains?
Does it work on carpets?

Hi mate, no you can't via the app with this model as its dated compared to the newer models. You can install valetudo if your tech minded and have the time, it's not very hard with a guide. It puts a mini server onto the vacuum and then you can control it directly without any Xiaomi servers or mi home app. You can sort of map out no-go zones this way, but not near as effective as newer models. The magnetic strips are your next best bet I believe.

Thanks for that, I don't mind getting my hands dirty so may give that a go.
Warning on delivery times: look at the other S5 Max thread, from the same aliexpress seller.

It looks like while the listing before you buy says 4-6 days delivery. Me and several others, after purchase, have our delivery extended to 15 working days or more. So be prepared for a longer wait potentially.

Also I've messaged the seller, but no response after a few days. So it is worrying there is a lack of customer service.

I will provide an update to this as I know more / hear back from seller.
