Has this device been identified as having malware? I read many articles and it seems that most Chinese brands/imported phones have malware installed :-(

Select delivery country as USA and it vanishes. Then when you check out select the correct country.

Is the screen 720p or 1080p?

you can buy from uk supplier

That's a while ago now, and it was dodgy vendor installed firmware. Ask for a sealed box and you're fine.

I don't recommend that as an alternative to this deal. Other than the memory difference mentioned above, that eBay listing is also the non B20 China Version, which the seller states has a custom ROM and they have a warning that flashing a newer ROM will void their warranty. In order to install a custom ROM, they open the box and could have installed other crapware/malware alongside it. However, this deal is a B20 Global Version that will be sealed and pre-installed with the official Global ROM.

So are we saying, that if I were to order a Chinese branded (i.e. Xiaomi, Lenovo, Cubot, Oppo, Vivo, etc..) phone from China but providing it has a Global ROM installed (not Custom ROM), it's fully sealed upon arrival, and say Android 6 (or greater) installed - I shouldn't experience any nasty malware or spyware with it?

Not sure about other brands but for Xiaomi phones, Global ROM can be installed by the sellers if it's the Chinese version of the phone that they're selling, because a factory sealed Chinese version comes pre-installed with China ROM. Sellers install either their own custom/vendor ROM or the official global ROM so that it has Play Store etc for the Global Market. In this scenario, there's risk of malware etc. The "Global Version", however is different. It's a release for another region outside of China and it is factory pre-installed with the Official Global ROM. For a number of phones, the Global Version also comes with more bands compared to China Version. Sometimes sellers will sell both the Global Version of a phone and the Chinese Version with Global ROM. They'll usually be clear on which version it is, and some have comparison tables:

As you can see the Chinese Version has a pink "Official Global ROM" over the image but it will have been installed by seller as it's "opened box", whereas "International Version" (Global Version) would come pre-installed with Global ROM and is sealed.

Thanks very much. I wasn't aware of this. I always thought the Chinese manufacturers made some very good phones, for lesser prices than the equivalent UK sold device. However, I always steered clear due to the worry of malware/spyware. Now knowing the above I feel assured that purchasing a 'Global Version' with the Global ROM installed at factory, and it being sealed, I should receive a perfectly safe phone to use with no nasty surprises. Thanks again.

so is this 1 from aliexpress the sealed box global version?

GearBest have the same phone but stating two versions - 'Global Version + UK Plug' and the 'International Version'. The Global Version is £15 more expensive and can be shipped from China or HK. The International Version can only be shipped from HK.
Any ideas on what's going on here?

Stay clear of AliExpress. Myself and three others are having issues obtaining refunds for undelivered items. Go with Gearbest and Geekbuying over AliExpress.

Yeah, I think so. The same seller has a number of Redmi 4A listings. Ones with "Global Version" in title like this deal, should be sealed and the ones with "Original" in title or "Global MIUI/ROM" tagged on the image corner will be China version which they've flashed with Global ROM.

That's interesting, and makes some sense as I've always thought they use the word 'original' where some would use 'genuine'.

I think they do use it to have that meaning too. Because in the "Global Version" listings, they have a stamp over the primary image saying 100% Original at the top, even though they don't have the word in the title, which would suggest they just mean 'genuine' in that sense. Whereas the differences in the titles, would suggest 'Original' is meant as 'initial/first' model (Chinese).

Does this phone have a fingerprint sensor?
The pic on aliexpress does not have one, the pic here does.

Aliexpress is a market place, without telling us which seller your post is useless. I've spend thousands and ordered hundreds of items, never had a single real issue. Any problems the seller wouldn't help with aliexpress support refunded me for instead

Judging by the Q&A asking about the differences, the International Version appears to be Gearbest's way of saying it just has the Global ROM installed but the band specs would suggest it's Chinese version since it doesn't list B20. The "Global Version" + UK Plug listing however does state B20 so that's the same version as this deal. If you are getting from Gearbest. Be aware of their different 2/16GB and 2/32GB listings since the pricing variation is a bit odd. Some seem to have a "Netmosa" option too. No idea what that one is.

May I ask what the phone is like ? looking for a new phone for my better half, she has an iphone 5s at the moment and just use's it for the obvious and browsing facebook etc, will this do a good job and is the camera any good, sorry for all the questions but it appears there are a few here who know their stuff !!!

I totally agree with this statement. Like others, in the past I have ordered many items through AliExpress (all being for an amount that I can afford to lose) without any problems but it must be understood that you have no UK consumer protection when goods are purchased from the Far East and the AliExpress (so called) 'guarantee' is as good as useless, as I have found out.

AliExpress is a market place no different to eBay except unlike eBay it provides the sellers with its free delivery. I have not received my item but AliExpress have insisted that i continue to wait. It's been over two months and now that their waiting period has expired they've stopped replying to my proposals in the 'dispute'. Like i said better of going with Banggood, Gearbest and Geekbuying because they're the best of a bad bunch.

Well I've had 5-10 refunds from them very quickly without a single issue. Where as Gerbest/Banggood normally just try and fob you off with site credit, aliexpress are bigger than amazon, that wouldn't have happened if they were as bad as you make out.

A coupon gets added when you put the item into basket/cart "Get £16.26 off when you spend over £89.41 in this store." You also have to select "Ship to U.S" before adding to basket, to get the full deduction otherwise it'll add a warranty fee.
