Xiaomi Redmi 4A International Version - Gearbest EU - £66.71

Gearbest have a 'clearance sale' at their EU warehouse. This looked like a decent deal for a budget phone from (in my opinion) the best Chinese phone manufacturer.

Price is for gold version.

This is from the EU warehouse G-W-4 so quicker delivery, no customs charges etc

No band 20 but a cheap way to get onto the Xiaomi bandwagon. Decent size battery for the spec so should easily last all day.

“This is from the EU warehouse G-W-4 (Albania)“

What an odd statement since Albania isn’t in the EU but is considered to be Eastern Europe.

I guess they consider it geographically in Europe, which is correct.
It's not in the EU economically, though... Like you said

That's a very decent price too. You should post that deal and let the people decide

The phones look incredibly similar spec wise.

The 5a has band 20, the 4a has a slightly larger battery.

I can't say really for sure as Albania is definitely not part of the EU, but if they put EU warehouse I guess it's because they will have ways of shipping it from there without customs charges.

Always get the global version if poss, especially with the prices being so close. The International version is usually the Chinese version onto which the seller has flashed the global rom. The global version has the global rom installed by the manufacturer in the factory, and also should have support for Band 20,so will provide access to 4G on more networks. Check the specs of each device. Finally, the box of the International version will be open and the global should be sealed.

How do you know gw4 is in Albania? Never figured out these warehouses codes. While I can figure out hk is Hong Kong and Chn is China, I can only assume gw are in Europe but I don't really know for sure. To make it odd, I can see on mobile the EU flag, while on pc there is no flag. Thanks, never purchased from gearbest but I am considering.

I just can't read properly.

As you were!
Aahh soon we will be sitting next to Albania (out of EU) bench

I've bought the global versions of the 4A and the 5A. Two major differences are 4A has hybrid SIM (2 x SIM's or 1 x SIM and 1 x SD card and has Marshmallow OS). The 5A has 2 SIM's and 1 x SD Card slots and Nougat OS).

The 4A also now has nougat OS ( Miui 9 ). The global verson will do an update if it is not already installed.Mine updated a few weeks ago.
BUT this is NOT the global version , so the international rom they installed may not update.

Its best to only buy "global version" Xiaomi phones ( be aware sellers use other descriptions with global in the title to fool you into buying a modded China version - you need "global version" as the description)

MIUI 9 isn't Nougat! If you check the OS in settings I think you'll see it's still Marshmallow.

I'd say the oukitel is a in the lower mid-range, whereas this Redmi is in the premium budget range.

Are you basing that on build quality, specs or manufacture?

Bit of everything.

The Redmi has good build quality and average specs.

The oukitel will have decent build quality and much better spec. Much bigger and heavier than the Redmi but it is a third more expensive.

At the price point I think the oukitel is great value. The Redmi is probably priced about right.

Miui 9 on the Redmi 4A is Android 7.1.2 - which is Nougat . Just checked on my Redmi 4A ( global version ).
The posted model is "international version" , which basically means the China version with an international ROM installed. So it may not update from Miui 8 ( and there is the risk it could have adware or other nasties in the rom ).
Always buy the "Global Version" which would be factory sealed with the official Xiaomi rom that updates over the air .

Totally agree, always buy the global version, one with band 20.

Miui 9.2.6.0 on the 4A.
