As the code for the Gearbest deal has expired, this is currently the best price for the Xiaomi 4A Global Version. The possibility of receiving 8% Quidco cashback makes this phone potentially under 70 quid net! IME Quidco pay the 8% on the full price so should your cashback come through successfully the cashback reduces the net cost of this phone to approx 69 quid!

Great spec for the money,.

Caveats
1. There is no meaningful warranty (return to China)*
2. You may get charged Customs duty (the likelihood of this is very much reduced if you choose free shipping)

* compare what sort of mobile you could get for less than 70 quid from a uk-sourced mobile and see the huge difference in spec then decide if a warranty is worth the extra).

The deal link you've put in starts with http://ru.aliexpress and will take people to the Russian AE site. Here's the Global site link:
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Global-Version-Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-4A-Pro-4-A-Mobile-Phone-2GB-RAM-32G-ROM-Snapdragon/311331_32811303185.html

For anyone who's clicked "Get Deal" already, you have to click to "Go to Global Site" at the top right corner first, otherwise clicking on the above link will still take you back to Russian site.

Thanks for that. I've tried changing the URL but it still defaults to the Russian site Can a Mod change it, please?

PS There's MOFI flip cases (various colours) on there for about a fiver (these have a thin steel sheet impregnated in the front cover for extra screen protection) and tempered glass screen protectors starting at just over a pound. Lost my confidence to link now but they come up on a search.

As long as the link starts with the standard aliexpress.com then it should be fine. However, once you click on a regional site link, I think it's stored in your browser cookies so that anytime you click on Global site links afterwards, it'll redirect to the specific region, until you set it back to Global site. Sometimes the hyperlink used in store homepage adverts are regional site links so clicking on some may take you to another region which then makes that your default region. I assume that's how you ended up with a Russian site link.

Hi i posted the gearbest deal can you tell me what shipping you used flat rate or standard someone has asked me if there is customs using standard but i only use flat rate myself so couldn't answer any assistance much appreciated

I have one. The time keeps going back and forward 1 hour at a time. Anyone got any ideas as to how to fix this.

Do you live in Kent, near French signal? Maybe change it to manual time rather than auto.

I wished they used paypal . I don't want the extra costs that lloyds ( like many banks ) will add on for a foreign transaction.

There have been comments about problems with the GPS on some Xiaomi phones. Can anyone confirm whether mapping apps will work properly on this phone?

I think the apparent issue is limited to Mediatek based phones, Snapdragon based phones (such as this) are fine.

bought a deal like this from an Aliexpress site, delivery was fantastic, tarif free, the handset was superb. THEN 6 months later the gps packed up. The retailer has gone it was an unauthorised seller so Xiaomi were helpful but not interested. Went out and bought a monthly contract phone in the uk

hi I used the singpost (not sure if that's flatrate or standard ) not the fastest service ordered 20th may delivered 06 june no customs charges but never expect anything for a while when ordering from P.R.C. / H.K.S.A.R.

Good if you want something cheap to throw around that will still do a job.

They seem to allow paypal but have a 4% surcharge to cover "costs"

Xiaomi, whilst having no official presence in the UK, are one of the largest mobile manufacturers in the World. Their stuff is built just as well as 'mainstream' brands. But costs way less...

Thanks. I need a dual SIM one

Bought this earlier today thanks, topcashback as well

is this spec not very similar (if not the same apart from dual sim and 32gb vs 16gb) as the ZTE blade A512 which can be had on Vodafone for £75 (and unlocked for about £1)? 2gb ram and snapdragon 425 processor in both

Similar apart from half the internal memory, single SIM and significantly smaller battery. Good deal if a warranty is important, though.

But this is also hybrid sim isn't it? So if you require more storage (assume around 24gb will be free on this) it's effectively single sim anyway.

Absolutely correct but at least you have more options - if you require dual SIM and no more than 32GB internal it is obviously the choice of the two, if you only require 1 SIM and more than 32GB it's still the choice due to its bigger battery (if you aren't worried about having a warranty that is). Horses for courses, I guess. Personally, I would always choose bigger internal memory over smaller internal plus SD card due to the higher speed. Plus the Blade is huge if the specs on gsmarena are correct. 164.3 x 71.6 x 7.6 mm (6.47 x 2.82 x 0.30 in). Almost an inch taller even though the screen is only .2 inch larger!

I ordered from this seller ( goldway) and had the dispatch email the less than 12 hours after ordering. so much better than waiting up to 14 days for gearbest to dispatch .
I paid by paypal ( was £3 extra paying by paypal). My bank would have charged nearly that in fees if they billed in US$ - which i suspect alipay does ( if the details on their site are correct ). This also means i could ship to my work address instead of the card address and not risk my card details on a Chinese site.

Aliexpress do state they charge in whichever currenty you choose so if you set it as £ you are charged in that (banks like to add extra for paying in other countries which tends to be 2-3%)

Never use paypal you end up paying way more then even banks because they use there own rates and fees for everything.

The other methods are use top up cards like monzo and revolut

I can confirm this. Convert the currency into pounds on the aliexpress site and that's what you will see coming out of your credit card.

Yep it arrived Tuesday with no added to tax brilliant little phone x

Ordered on 6th June. From Goldway. No phone, no refund. Goldway said Aliexpress must refund. Aliexpress said can't give a refund unless seller authorises it, Still waiting, no phone (supposedly left China 13th June) and no refund.

Given a tracking number never found by tracking system

Do not buy from Goldway and be cynical about Aliexpress Buyer Protection

8 August

Never arrived here either, tracking shows given to airline and then nothing. Paid by PayPal so have raised dispute via them, will update with the outcome
