Select the Gold version to get the cheapest price.

This comes with the Chinese rom which only supports Chinese and English languages and does not have the Google Playstore preinstalled. It's easy to install yourself and you can unlock the phone's bootloader to flash a Global rom.

If the above is not something you would like to avoid then you can also choose the version that comes with a custom rom which has the Playstore installed, but costs around £12 more.

No Band 20 Version out yet!

China ROM, need to wait 72 hours (or 360 hours if you keep trying to unlock) for unlock code from Xiaomi, to put Global ROM on. Hassle! Xiaomi are locking all phones now.

The Chinese rom has ONLY support for Chinese and English language!

I would hope that it won't be too long before the global version comes out, there are lots of places in the far east that want it as well as us here, they know they can sell them, I guess they will try to keep up with the demand from the Chinese domestic market first.

Correct (No Google playstore) and some things are in Chinese only.

Please stop commenting if you have no clue what you are talking about. It's easy to enable the Playstore on the Chinese rom and as English is present it's not a problem.

The post doesn't say it has Google play, it says it's easily activated. I'm not sure what this means, but play store is very easy to install. Also, the China rom on my Mi Note 3 has more that Chinese and English languages, so doubt this would be different. You've also stated on another thread that the bootloader is locked as this has the China rom. All xiaomi bootloaders are locked, it has nothing to do with the rom version.

I never said it had anything to do with the ROM version. Did I? Also, he's edited the post and deleted 'Google Play: Yes'. He's also deleted the other languages from the post.

The China ROMs all have English and Chinese plus about 3 or 4 other Asian/Chinese languages. Plus a hell of a load of bloat! Plus, even if you select English, you will still encounter Chinese here and there, unless you jump through the hoops and over the hurdles.

You said China rom = no playstore and locked bootloader.

Correct - The China ROM that is installed on this phone has no Google Play and has a locked bootloader (like all the new Xiaomi's).

Haha! I know this, but you implied that the bootloader is locked because the rom is Chinese, which isn't true.

I never implied anything. That was your perception.

*sigh* OK.
Good price but refuse to buy again from AliExpress due to a bad experience. Any other vendor? Any good deals for the 4GB RAM version?

Aliexpress is a marketplace, having a poor experience with one vendor is not necessarily indicative of a problem with aliexpress. Buying directly from China has greater risk than UK purchases though you can buy pretty much any product on aliexpress from a UK reseller. I've purchased around 10 phones from Aliexpress, Geekbuying, Banggood and Gearbest over the last 18 months or so, all arrived safely without issue with considerable savings though it's wise to remember the risks.

Problem was when I get a crappy eBay seller I can go to PayPal or eBay, post enough evidence and usually get a reasonable outcome. On aliexpress my phone just didn't turn on after only 3 months use and the vendor ignored my request for repair/return whilst the aliexpress customer report just basically drew the issue on without resolving it (waited 6 weeks where each time I spoke to a different person - probably even a bot). I have to say I've spent quite a bit of money with aliexpress as I'm an audiophile and just a geek in general so have bought several Xiaomi, Meizu, ZUK etc phones as well as loads of different earphones so that one experience was enough to turn me bitter and promise never to buy from them again. Gearbest, banggood and the others have all been good to me so I've just stuck to them so far and never looked back at aliexpress.

Hongkong Goldway are probably the best Xiaomi reseller on Ali. I'm currently halfway though a return for repair process with them, and it's been smooth so far. Was very easy to contact them and talk to a rep. Taxfree shipping too. After having bought 3 phones from them, I'd buy another.
If your phone died 3 months later, like mine : expect no help, What So ever. Extra warranty is worthless. You send it to Poland ( their eu offices) for fixing and it returns unopened. They will not refund your money or do anything then insisting you send to China to be looked at. Photos, videos, and explanation ignored. Three months without a phone !
