Um, Miui, gearworst.
Cold.
I've ordered plenty from gearbest and never had any problems, there's a few weeks wait but that's obvious when stuff ships from China.

And MIUI is not a problem... Flashing ROMs for clean stock android is very simple.
In fairness to Gearbest, every item I've ordered has arrived. Although last purchase took 9 weeks! Warranty is my only concern, but if you're prepared to risk it, I think they're worth giving benefit of doubt

Nothing wrong with MIUI. I've used xiaomi phones for the past 3.5 years and have never had an issue with them. Just don't expect updates after the first month or so of release.
No nfc?

Sadly no, otherwise an awesome phone for the money... I think the 3G/32GB is better value and enough for most.
For those of us thinking of upgrading from a Redmi Note 4 here's a comparison
Is it 100% certain that this has Band 20? This seems to be the first mention of in with this model. Although a few people have asked them this in Q&A:
"Hello Manfredi,
Thanks fo your inquiry.

Yes, the item is compatible with FDD B20 800MHz."

Do any of these Xiaomi phones you see on here all the time have nfc?

I'd agree, most people add a memory card anyway so doesn't make much difference. If you look at the Mi A1 there is only £10 difference between the 32 and 64gb version so worth spending the extra, but there is £30 difference on this one for some reason(admittedly 3 instead of 4gb ram).

The Redmi series don't but the Mi 5 and 6 do.

Who needs it really. Tesco pay quick app works fine on my xiaomi and Nfc tags are to much of a pain. Can't say I know anyone that uses Nfc regularly for anything.. Maybe I'll find I'm wrong as folks here will say they can't live without it?

Did you pay any import tax ?
I have been considering buying from gearbest but that is my concern, a massive import tax

Presumably you can only use Tesco quick pay in Tesco though?

I use NFC daily on the tube, bus etc for contactless. Saves getting out my bank card or using Oyster. Also use it at fast food places and stores that accept android pay. NFC is essential for me now.
What's the chances of paying import tax on this? This or get it off ebay for £175 shipped from UK? I really need an upgrade and really not sure what to get, needs a big screen min 5.5" and needs a decent screen, camera and battery. Budget is about £300. Any suggestions?

Pick free shipping to most likely avoid duty and tax. I would recommend paying the extra couple of dollars for insurance

Ah yes. I can see that being useful. Our local bus has Nfc payments now. I have used Nfc with my old lg g4 to pay for goods.

Yeah. Fuel. Food ect..handy if I leave wallet at home although never done that yet. Screwfix. toolstation I can pay via PayPal. Wetherspoons you can pay using there app. Esso and shell stations you can use app to pay. Lots of options that work on xiaomi phones

Really? All our (5+) phones receive regular updates, some over 1 year old.

I have placed the order yesterday using UK priority mail shipping method and it was shipped out today with the invoice marked as Multimedia player gift with a value of $20. I have always used the UK priority mail option as there is no import tax to pay as they ship from China/HK to a UK address and then forwards it to you via Royal Mail.

If your budget is £300, you can do much better than this. Look at refurbs or even 2nd hand.
dont think it is a real Band 20 global version , as nobody else is selling international versions and there is no official confirmation anywhere which will be saying that Global version is out .

The rumours are saying : End of February !

Also all Aliexpress `Global Rom` versions are fake modified vietnamese versions ...

Global version was released 2 weeks ago and is available on Aliexpress as well, international version wording is used by some sellers and is the same as global version.

I buy many items from China. Lots from Gearbest, all have arrived. Not buying anymore. The returns procedure for a £40 TV box has taken 3 months and they have now closed the case when the prevarication is all theirs.
They offered $25 at the start for a DOA (dead on arrival). Eventually after having stated you have to pay return postage I pointed out their terms and conditions for DOA say they pay.
They then sent me a Birmingham address.
Sent it there and they closed the case (recorded delivery). I protested so they said send to another UK address - and closed the case and now don't reply.
I've read on forums since of this exact style of delays to make you give up.
Paypal ignore whatever you say (they don't read anything - just automated replies) and they say send to China for a refund. Difficult when Gearbest have it already.

Please treat this as a cautionary tale and don't risk significant money on a high tech item that may be faulty. The guarantee is worthless.
Anyone wanting to see the huge file of copied prevarication(always polite!) message me for a copy.
I'd be wary of the bands. It's rare for global versions to have 800mhz (band 20). For me it's crucial due to where I live.

Redmi and Note series global versions always had band 20.

Don't deal with any of these Asian companies concerning faults, returns etc. Go straight to Paypal and stick to Paypals procedure. If the company asks you to email them, then phone Paypal and they will escalate the case against the company straight away. If its over £100 and you pay by credit card, do a section 75. You will get nowhere and frustrated dealing with these companies if you want your money back.
Bought this 10 days ago following this link. Received confirmation & payment emails the same day saying it'd be soon dispatched, however, until now no news. When I enquired a couple of days ago, they simply said shipment will start on 25/02, no apology whatsoever. Wonder if I'll see the phone this time next month? If not, perhaps it'd have to go through the Paypal dispute route. My first dealing with Gearbest, don't like the way they handle this!
It's chinese new year for two weeks ending today. The whole country shuts down, including the postal system. Your order was unluckily timed!
