Seems good for the price, but not voting either way because of the Mediatek processor... I do hope that Xiaomi aren't going to use these for other phones in the future!

I respect that.
The mtek processor is a bit shady, but it will be plenty good for buyers of this phone.
I had this. Great phone. Packed with features

Lol, trump can kiss my trump.

China is the way forward.
CPU looks pretty decent performance wise. Should be energy efficient as they have managed reduce the chip size too.

However, Xiaomi don't have a great record of upgrading Android on Mediated powered devices.
Surely you'll get hit with import tax on this

I know they have warehouses in Spain and Poland at least, so they most likely ship from there.
Why not get the mi A1 for a few quid more?
Much of an upgrade from redmi 5??
What do I need to look out for when it comes to bands on Xiaomi/Honor phones?

I'm guessing some of these phones aren't supported/compatible with UK networks?

With Xiaomi make sure you buy the "Global Version" , not global rom or anything else ( or you get an opened box and software that has been tinkered with).Global version gets you a sealed box with the official global software that auto updates and includes Google services The only other thing is to check it has band 20 support on 4G that some UK networks use ( if it doesn't it will still work inthe UK , but you will get 4G in less locations).
They are unlocked and work with all UK networks.
At this price it ought to have a fingerprint scanner . I like the smaller size of this compared to other recent Xiaomi models, but the Redmi 5 models for similar money seem better value.
The Redmi 6 has been this price and less in recent days on Aliexpress, up and down the past week. B20 versions according to the sellers. The 6 is basically the same thing as the 6A but with a better CPU.

The 6 has a Mediatek Octocore P22 over the Quad A22 in this. Don't be fooled, the P22 is a brand new CPU on a latest gen 12nm process. It's about as fast as a SnapDragon 625, albeit with slightly inferior GPU performance.

Considering the previous commonly found type of CPU in these low budget phones (the SD430/435) it's a very large upgrade.

What price are they currently? Any chance you could post it as a deal the next time it falls to ~£100? On the hunt for the best budget phone and I assume that's going to be the Redmi 6.

Well today I looked and one is like £115, the new sign up voucher takes off £3 End of last week it was as low as £97 without voucher. Gold is always the cheapest colour, sometimes the prices change even according to colour. These sites the price always seems to fluctuate a bunch, day to day even.
General question about Xiaomi phones - do any of you create a MIUI account as well as a Google account?

I have not created a MIUI one and wondering if I am missing out? Or would it just be sending all my info to China as well as to the US?

Or the note 4/4x is available at around £100 which is definitely better than 6/6a.
Is this rootable?

I wouldn't worry about sending all your data to China - the phone will probably do that for you anyway, if the latest security warnings are anything to go by.

Racist

Yes, that's obviously it.

It couldn't be anything to do with not liking a one-party totalitarian state with a flagrant disregard for dissent, a free press, the rule of law, democracy, human rights, labour rights, international law, treaty obligations, the territorial integrity of independent countries, international waters, international trade rules, or an over-fondness for cyber warfare, industrial espionage, or anything remotely serious, it has to be because I'm a grubby little racist.

Clueless numpty.

What tosh. Over the past 20 years China has pulled 700 million of its people out of poverty and given them healthcare, food, roof over their heads, these are ALL human rights too. Britain in the same time time has illegally invaded sovereign states (like Iraq), sent terrorists (Al-CIAda) to countries like Libya and Syria, maimed or made homeless 5 million Iraqi's, massacred atleast 1 million Iraqi's, and created millions of refugees (Iraq, Libya, Syria), not to mention that the British supported terrorists are a threat to British citizens too.

Outstanding whataboutery. Bravo.

Now, if you can quote me supporting any of those things or arguing that's the way forward, you might have the beginning of an argument.

Good luck with that.

I prefer being consistent in my criticism and not ignoring what someone does, or even praising it, because it's slightly less worse than someone else.

How are things in China?

There is still horrific poverty in China far worse than anything in Britain. And last I checked, you don't get 'disappeared' if you dare to criticise Theresa May. It's silly to blame Britain for those wars when it was a small fry compared to America but those wars were mostly justified anyway. Would you like a list of all the awful dictators and groups that are directly supported by China? No, I'm afraid the west is still light years ahead of China on human rights.

More importantly though, where are you seeing a note 4 for around £100? They're sold out on aliexpress.

There's poverty here ...nurses going to food banks.

You can get disappeared here or killed if you oppose the warmongering british regime ...Dr. David Kelly

Britain wasn't small fry, Britain was the only accomplice to the massacre of 1 million Iraqi's. If Britain had refused to part-take in the massacre, the illegal war would probably not have happened.

How was illegal aggression against Iraq justified? Iraq never invaded Britain or even threatened to invade Britain. Are you a Nazi or something?

Britain's has many dictators, why shouldn't China have one or two?

"West light years ahead" in illegal wars (Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan), aggression (Libya), massacring civilians (Iraq), illegal occupation (Iraq, Syria), torture (Iraq, Libya), supporting (al-CIAda) terrorists (Libya, Syria) .....I could go on.

I got new Note 4X for £88 from ebay using 20% voucher. You can find them for £105 normal price.
