Good price for a cracking phone. I have a Redmi 3S currently and OH has the Note 4 and love them. Quite tempted to treat myself for Xmas (even if it might not turn up before)

Has BAND20 for full UK 4G coverage and the deal includes silicon case and screen protector.

Oh it'll definitely turn up for Christmas. Christmas 2018, that is.

I have this phone. It's generally good but battery life isn't great. Doesn't last me the day. Mind you I live in a poor signal area so that probably doesn't help.

Only thing putting me off pulling the trigger. My wife has the Redmi Note 4, uses her phone a lot and it often goes 3 days between charges. Putting a 25% smaller battery in the Mi A1 is IMO a real backward step. Just hope they don't do the same for the Redmi Note 5 because it will have lost one of its selling points.

I ordered on the 11th of November for about £153 which is obviously a bit cheaper but the thing still hasn't turned up

I bought this phone a month ago from AliExpress. It turned up a couple of weeks later. I'm very impressed with the phone although with a bit of light gaming I have noticed that the battery does suffer a little. I generally get to about 8pm and it's at about 15 percent. Signal quality is a little worse that my iPhone 6 plus and I find in low signal areas the phone doesn't always get a signal.

Negatives aside the phone is great and I'm very happy with my £150 purchase.

Thanks for the info re the battery I am looking to get a xiaomi phone but stuck at which one so many to choose from..

We've got the Redmi Note 4x and the Mi Max 2 in our house. Love the Mi Max 2 for watching Movies when travelling. Both are excellent with superb Battery Life. I can't fault either of them, tbphwy.

Redmi 5 and redmi 5 plus apparently being launched in China tomorrow, so shouldn't have too long to find out.

OK, I'm going to say it - if stock android isn't a must have I would go for the Redmi Note 4 4gb/64GB. If you shop around (and keep checking on here) it can be had for almost 50 quid less than this Mi A1. IMO that makes it a no-brainer.

The key problem with the Redmi devices (and most Chinese phones in general) is MIUI. I'm sure some Chinese users must like it but western users seem to mostly install 3rd party launchers so they can work around and tolerate it. It's also missing a lot of features that are included with stock Android (e.g. apps to an SD card).

Got to say, I agree. That said, I do like MIUI.

Tempted but will wait for Oreo to appear on this as it's supposed to be coming soon.

installing a launcher takes 2 minutes - hardly a problem.

On my 6th android phone and cant say I found the Note 4 missing a single stock feature needed

I agree that MIUI, or indeed, any manufacturer skin isn't for everyone, but as I said in another post, I like it, and I can't be the only one. Apps2SD isn't a feature removed by Xiaomi, the feature was removed by Google in a previous version of android. An app can't write to a folder on an SD card unless the app created the folder in the first place. So, if the Apps2SD app didn't create the folder on the SD card, the write operation will fail. It's always possible I'm wrong, but I think that's correct.

I'm not sure that's correct tbh. Stock Android includes extending storage to SD all the way up to Nougat.

Indeed, but extended storage just uses all storage as one space. This isn't the same thing as apps2SD. If you meant extended storage, then yes, I believe it was removed. However, xiaomi aren't the only OEM to do it, as using all storage as a whole presents its own problems.

I understand what you're saying but as far as I'm concerned, if it's good enough for Google then others have no genuine reason to forcibly disable it.

That's fair enough. I'd disagree, though, because internal storage is always quicker and more reliable. That's why I don't use SD cards in a phone. If part of the 'internal' storage is on an SD card, any problems with the card will still be present. Also, if the card fails, what happens to the data? Is it all lost, just some of it? I'd rather not take the risk and just buy a phone with more storage in the first place. This is only my opinion, though, and I do accept that many people require SD storage.

Hopefully the will have fitted the redmi 5 larger screen in to a similar sized body as the redmi 4 and will bring out a global version. As I am not looking for the note version and then only thing stopping me from the redmi 4 pro was lack of a global version

as I said not a feature I need - or probably most folk - plenty room (32GB) for apps, can still use SD cards for mega storage of photos or videos if needed

I ordered it first thing in the morning on singles day. Was delayed for four days but once it was handed to the courier it took two weeks.

Does anyone know if the dual camera actually takes good pictures or is it just a gimmick.

I have the redmi note 4 and the camera is really awful.

Out in the daylight it's not a bad camera but with no image stabilisation low light and night shots are hit and miss depending how steady you hands are

Redmi 5 and 5 Plus launched in China today, wonder how long for the global version..

I also have the note 4 - anyone else having major battery issues? phone switches off at 28% and never seem sto fully charge. Battery from being charged overnight to switching off is currently about 5 hours maximum, whereas in the past I could have had 3 days without requiring a charge (although usually with high usage it would last for 2 days)

Smaller battery than the Note 4x

badboyofrock6th Dec

Got to say, I agree. That said, I do like MIUI.

And me, I haven't yet found anything that Miui can't do, and it has a lot of nice features that I haven't seen anywhere else. Never had to install a custom rom for about 3 years now

Wish the camera specs were better

I got this phone a week ago from AliExpress and it's the best phone I've ever had. Last phone was the s6 edge 64gb

These Xiaomi phones are fantastic, personally I like MIUI and I've had no issues with it at all, been using HTC phones with sense for years, thought I'd hate changing but I'd probably not go back now.

Had a redmi 4x for about a week now and I've charged it twice and that was at 20-30% remaining.

I was going to buy this but wanted a smaller screen, 100% happy with the phone so far.

It's due to a recent update apparently, a fix is on the way from what I've read.

If you Google the issue you'll see many posts about it, so you're not alone.

Love my Mi A1 ..had a galaxy note 3 before and this is so much better...love the launcher and the camera is spot on.. ordered mine 11th Nov and delivered 27th from AliExpress

old cpu snapdragon 625

i would personally go for at least snapdragon 820

Another thumbs up for MiUI it has the simplicity of Apple but the customizable depth of Android if you want it. Plus it has lots of useful features. I much prefer it to the UI's of Samsung, Apple and even HTC or the custom ROMs I've tried.
