Please note this is the PRO version with the Snapdragon 650 processor (antutu hovering around 80,000!) and huge 4050mAh battery. Cheapest I've seen this for a while/ever? Incredible spec for the money asked. It's the Dark Grey one that's this price. Price includes free shipping from China (so patience is needed!).

EDIT: 7% CASHBACK THROUGH QUIDCO. Could make the net price approx 120 pounds.

One of the first phones to use the superb new Snapdragon 650 processor (the soon to released Sony Xperia X will also have it - and cost in the region of 450 quid!)

gizmochina.com/201…ed/

Caveats:

1. Possibility of being charged import duty ( I never have in quite a few orders but there's always the possibility!)

2. Also no effective warranty as it needs to be returned to China for repair.

What gsmarena think of the phone:

Verdict
The Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 3 is being launched at a price point at USD $148 (INR 9,999) for the 16GB model and $178 (INR 11,999) for the 32GB model, in India.

At that price, the phone represents phenomenal value for money. Even if you leave the price aside for a second, the Redmi Note 3 has a combination of a great design and build quality, good display, great performance, fingerprint sensor, and excellent battery life. Add to that the incredible pricing, and it makes it easier to ignore some of the shortcomings, such as the less than stellar camera, outdated version of Android, and the lack of proper fast charging, none of which are deal breakers to begin with. At this price, it is easily the best phone in its price range.

I've added the caveat to the OP (plus my personal experiences). Plus a further caveat regarding warranty. But compare this to the spec of the Moto G 3RD Gen that went HOT today at 144 quid and, imo, it's worth the risk! This simply blows the Moto G clean out of the water! They simply aren't in the same league. But should you not get customs charges this is even cheaper than the Moto G 2GB RAM/16GB ROM.

There has been an increase recently on high value goods from China being held in customs & Ali tend to declare accurate values

VAT will be around £26 while carriers will add between £12 & £20 for paying the charges

Fortunately at under £135 there should be no duty

I agree but I bought my Chinese Octacore 6" Phone already in the UK with a higher spec than this inc 3Gb & 32Gb for this price with a UK address for warranty concerns .....no Chinese apps/spyware & duty paid
Laughable aftersales support (or is there any support at all?) and you will be praying for manufacturer to release any security or OS updates. Don't be fooled to get something because it's 10 quid with a 10million core CPU, 10000mah battery and 8K screen. There's a reason Nexus phones run much smoother and faster even on older/slower hardware.

I'm assuming it's from one of the lesser known Chinese manufacturers? Even if so, it would be great if you would share the link. TIA!

Nobody is trying to compare this with a high end Android phone ,,,,,,but there is nothing in the price range which can compete with the spec & the benchmarks on some of these devices do compare with phones 3x more expensive

No but it's from a good China based importer
It's a decent price but when you add on customs charges & the fact that getting it fixed under warranty provides even more expense. Then it's honestly not worth importing phones from China. Most of these phones are also set for Asia 4G networks, which will not work in the UK as we have a different frequency etc, etc.

For what you pay for this + customs & handling fees, you could get a brand new LG G3 from Amazon etc. The G4 & the Galaxy S5 will son be in the price point in the near future. In the end, unless you happen to be saving hundreds on a phone, it's just not worth it in the end up to import it from China.

Many people do not realise that most high end phones are actually made in China using the same factories & components as these Chinese brands

My own phone has a Sony camera & other branded items inc the display

Ditto. I have a Meizu MX4 Pro which I paid 130 pounds for from Banggood and that has a Sony 20.7mp camera, a QHD 5.5 screen and real HIFi DAC ( SABRE ES9018K2M) . Totally happy to risk the lack of warranty on such an amazing device for the price.

It was actually the Moto G deal today that prompted my deal here. Of course it all depends on a person's opinion as to risk. For me, the difference in price is enough for me to 'risk' the warranty issue.

The only 4G service I cannot access on mine is an O2 service (and even that isn't everywhere in the country)....I get excellent 4G with my EE sim

I have now owned 3 Chinese branded phones....never had an issue....never needed a warranty (unlike my wife's Sony or her earlier Samsung)....all 3 combined cost less than the Samsung alone & have given almost 6 years flawless service....in fact both of my previous phones are still serving the people I gave them to well....most of my upgrades have simply been because I wanted larger screens ..... not due to any failures
The operating system on these are a nightmare, it is their own version of android. I got the non pro version from a UK seller. When I switched to phone on it said there was a system update available, so I let it update before trying it out. It came with loads of Chinese APS and I couldn't log into my Google account, then i read another sellers ad which said not to do the update. Then I reset the phone, to see the play store disappeared. Way too much hassle so I am going to return it. The phone looks nice (great build quality) and the specs are awesome for this price, but why can't they do a clean version of android?

That is very true. But there's more to a smartphone than the components. How well is it built, the QC, the software, aftercare/warranty.
these phones are great xiaomi don't make rubbish gear I have had there phones there headphones power bank light speakers all fantastic price regardless gearbest have bad rep try banggood they reliable and have a genuine customer service.xiaomi phones are updated every friday least my mi4 was.xiaomi build amazing phones and isn't it strange how new Snapdragon 650 doesn't overheat like 810 yet is just as powerful yet runs on older 28hardware
You have to be comfortable flashing the ROM, else you'll be stuck with an adware infested phone.

I bought a high end siswoo which is apparently a good make out there and I'm stuck on Android 4... But then my HTC desire was stuck on an old version... I'd not expect as many updates, but the hardwares phenomenal for not much money
I've got the higher spec version of this and it's brilliant. It took a long time to arrive but I didn't pay any customs charges. Just be prepared to read up on flashing the global firmware. It's really not that difficult with the tools provided. I wouldn't swap this for my wife's S6 edge.
This, or the Ulephone Power 4G?

I have the 32GB version of this and it is very, very impressive. Mine came installed with the international version of MIUI 7 and it had virtually no bloatware installed. I imagine the standard Chinese ROM is the one that contains all the bloatware.

It is very straightforward to install the international ROM and you do not need to be rooted.

Disclaimer: Upgrading the ROM is your own risk. I accept no responsibility whatsoever for any mishaps!
Follow this guide to install the ROM: http://en.miui.com/a-232.html
Here is the latest international ROM for the Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon 650 version: http://en.miui.com/download-301.html

I doubt there is a phone anywhere in the world at this cost with this specification. The SD 650 is actually faster than the 2015 SD 810 which is incredible value.

Noticed Android 5.1 what are the updates like on these Chinese phones . regular automatic or do you have to install custom roms if you want further OS updates?
Ordered, thanks op

This, or the Ulephone Power 4G?

I've got a ulefone power arriving in a few days. Two days after ordering i saw a review on youtube by Chris the guy who runs techtablet.com. He knows more than a few things about chinese tech and has reviewed both phones. He firmly comes out in favour of the redmi note 3 pro. TBH they are both good phones and worth taking a bit of a gamble on regarding the more or less useless warranty. If you are risk averse then buy from a UK based retailer.
I've had a couple of the previous version, Redmi Note 2. Purchased in Hong Kong. The first one was an import from across the border and the ROM was Chinese. I had to install Google Play Store on it. It was chock full of bloatware and some of the apps would crash the 'phone if I uninstalled them.

I purchased another from the Official Xiaomi Store in Mongkok, which was already installed with the International ROM, it was in English with Google Play Store already loaded.

For the price, I think very hard to beat for value. I was really happy with the second 'phone.

This one having the Snapdragon 650 and I will be buying one on my next trip there.

If you don't get hit by import tax, for me, this is a no brainer.
Does it work with Three's 4G bands?
I have the 32gb version of this Phone Browses quicker the iphone 6s believe it or not
Feels quality in your hand only thing worries me if you get a fault can't imagine Amy warranty in this country
worth mentioning this PRO version comes with microsd expansion and a better (higher resolution better low light focusing) camera module that the vanilla Helios x10 powered note3

the huge downside of Chinese android phones that it's buyers don't seem concerned with are the lack of security updates and the likelihood that it comes riddles with malware. Android is a huge target for malware nowadays.

It's a shame really as it's a killer spec phone for the money with a good passable screen and a reasonable camera
I too have been looking for a Chinese phone, and at one point was looking to choose between the uleFone mentioned above and the Redmi. The reviews online are fantastic, its worth a punt for sure.

However, I have had my head turned by the Elephone p9000, just released. Spec is unbelievable, you should check the specs out.

But with many comments on buying from China / Hong Kong, I too am concerned about returning it if something happens to it.

I am now waiting for it to appear on Amazon from a UK seller and pay a bit extra in the knowledge that I can go back to them if it had any issues.

Depends how risk averse you are. The Redmi has by far the better spec, the Honor has the warranty.
