What do you mean? Are you saying I have to order using my browser on my phone? Is the extra charge the customs charges? or is it for the warranty?

you can always remove it if you have the right app. would require root though.

I think I would just stick cyanogenmod on anyway as I didn't get on with the miui

gone for it ... Thanks OP

im trying to get a phone for around £100. would this be the best at the this price point? its for my mum so just want something cheap but powerrful with good cam

Would this work with O2 4g?

Would this be much of an upgrade from my htc one M8?

until the snapdragon version comes out (which could possibly be December)

Only let down by the poor camera

At £125 I think we can let that slide

I love my G2, its just randomly crashing. I need a good camera

and the fact that every phone at around this price point is pretty much the same........

Their stupid warranty still gets added on even in a mobile browser - any ideas how to make it go away?

After spending almost an hour unsuccessfully trying to not have to pay for the unwanted warranty by ordering this mobile through the mobile browser and not the mobile app, I ultimately paid a total of £122.46 for the mobile including the warranty but I did get a coupon discount of £8.16 automatically at checkout for buying an item over £122.40. Great deal imo.

if I was buying for my mum I wouldn't bother with a Chinese import. at the moment you can get a Wiley fox swift at sub £100 and you've got a decent 2gb/16gb phone with CM13 (android 6). battery life is good and camera isn't bad at that price point. buying thru amazon gives confidence re guarantee.

How did you get the coupon?

The coupon was in my AliExpress account tab in the My Coupons section, valid from 21 Nov-30 Nov for 'Mobile Only' and automatically got added at checkout. Make sure you don't add any other coupon/voucher from anywhere else as it only will accept one voucher code.

Care to share the code?

I do like the Xiaomi Mi5, but over £200 for a Chinese phone is a gamble

I gladly would if there was a way, but it's not a voucher with a code that you have to type in. It just gives the discount amount and it adds itself without me doing anything, I don't even have to click on it, it just automatically went into checkout and minused itself off the total figure.

This or the upcoming Elephone S7. Thoughts anyone?

Choose delivery country USA before adding to cart.

Ad to cart without warranty, when placing the order set the delivery country to UK and bingo, ordered without extra warranty

also dont forget quidco + £8~ coupon.

There was news recently about cheap Chinese phones logging your personal data and sending it to servers in China, is this phone safe?

I'd pick Xiaomi over Elephone based on my personal experience but who knows perhaps Elephone has raised their game a little?

If Chinese phones were English football though Xiaomi would be Premier League and Elephone probably League 1.

I've not bought from them before so I'm confused why anyone wouldn't want to get warranty with it? Especially with Chinese brands

Thanks Jambooboo I will check it out

daughter has one of these, and I am really impressed with it for the money. is very responsive, nice screen, good camera.

from what people have said in previous posts, its the vendor roms on this phone which might have that software on.
to be honest though is that any different to what google are doing? they are logging a serious amount of info about their users. just recently they changed all their policies and most users will just click accept without reading or understanding what they have agreed to.

haha yeah this is already what i would consider a large phone, its not the most comfortable in your pocket. better inside a jacket/coat pocket. the mi max would feel like a trigger happy phone imo

Tried a few times to buy this before and could never get it to drop warranty.I'll have another go.

I wanted to, except CM isn't officially supported for this version (kenzo is, Kate isn't)

OK, I got this sussed! Use the Aliexpress mobile app as a new user, select delivery destination as the USA and currency US dollars. On the home page of the app is a link for coupons, click on this and you'll get $10 off a $150 spend added to your account. Add ONLY the phone to your basket and the $10 voucher should show when you go to pay. At the payment stage you can then change the delivery destination to the UK without their stupid warranty getting added. Make sure you use a credit card that doesn't load foreign currency transactions (such as Halifax Clarity, Nationwide Visa Select). Total cost for me for the grey version was $152.49 or around £123.

Well gone for it.£126-48 Hopefully here for xmas. The changing to usa then back to uk did knock off the warranty.
