http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8453&idPhone2=8531http://www.techradar.com/news/moto-g5-vs-redmi-note-4-which-one-is-betterI simply can't see the 50% anywhere. The Xiaomi is a tiny bit better than Moto G5 but I would still get the Moto because it's from Amazon.

I'll bite first by stating the obvious...

Motorola G5 3GB
Price £164.99

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
Price £107.24

164.99-107.24 = 57.75

(57.75/107.24) x 100 = 53.9%

OK... you're right, the Motorola is not 50% more... it is 53.9% more.

Any deals for the 4/64?
Got my wife the 4GB/64GB version from Aliexpress, arrived in EIGHT DAYS (free shipping) and she's made up with it. 133 quid although it's over 140 quid now. Replacing a still lovely Huawei P8 as the 16GB on-board memory is simply not enough anymore. An absolute steal. Heat added.

PS The 3gb/32gb version can be had for 108 quid from AliExpress with 8% Quidco cashback (potentially, although I've found them very reliable for cashback over several orders).

Any deals for the 4/64?

The 4GB/64GB version appears to have gone up in price considerably in the last couple of weeks whilst the cost of the 3GB/32GB version has come down. No idea why. Cheapest 4GB/64GB I can see is 145 quid on AliExpress.

aliexpress.com/pre…y=n

Cheapest 64GB mobile (although on;y 3GB RAM) is the rather old Z1 for just under a 100 quid direct from China.

Do these phones come with pure android or are they rammed with useless apps that you can't uninstall?

They come with the Miui version of Android , which adds a few useful features . But it also has a lot of Miui apps that are pretty pointless as they do the same as the google apps ( back up settings, photos, contacts etc ). They also have ALL the google apps installed - which you may not have wanted ( duo , music, drive, hangouts etc ). Its not a major issue though - just don't use them - but it would have been better to let you install them yourself ( as you can't uninstall them as they are system apps ).
There are fortunately no pointless Chinese apps installed on the global versions though.
Excellent, benefited from low us dollar too. 140us = 107uk!

There's a box on the right side when you go to the shopping cart screen. It asks you to register first.
SD card slot?
Very good price. I ordered the 4/64 version from aliexpress (Xiaomi MC Store) early June but sadly still waiting for it!

I've had the Note 3 for over 12 months and its been a great phone, camera/video is not great in low light.
I replaced my screen on my Redmi Note 3 Pro special edition last week but I have no sound on the earpiece speaker

Have ordered a new speaker from Aliexpress hoping i can fix it

Meanwhile toying up a new phone this or hold fire for the Note 5 SD660

Great phone although it doesn't like Google contacts or the Google calendar widgets.
Sorry, I'm sure this has been spoken of endlessly, but the band 20 meant it WOULD work with all networks, or only specific networks?

Band 20, or commonly known as 800 LTE is a band that all UK mobile companies use for 4G. Most Chinese phones have bands 850 and 950 which are redundant in the UK. The other two UK 4G bands are 1800 and 2600, however these two bands don't really give you great service once you get outside of a big town or city. You can get away with not having the 800 band in some places but I'd class it as essential in the UK.
This phone, being the global version, has the 800 band and will probably have the other two aswell. You can Google "O2 UK LTE bands" or similar.
Do these phones get updates? My honor 5x never gets any so looking for a phone that doesn't lag
Ordered. Thanks OP.

With the Moto G5 you're going to have an excellent customer service with a warranty from Amazon. If you're not bothered about the warranty part and happy to risk it, go for the Xiaomi.

Voted hot for the price.

Usually not if you choose the standard post, but you should factor in that you might get charged. I bought a Xiaomi Mi pad from Gearbest a few weeks ago, no import tax

There is some truth here... all the major networks use 800 MHz, but not all MVNOs do.

In addition to 1800 and 2600 MHz, 2100 MHz is also used in the UK.

My wife has a Xiaomi Mi5, and my friend has a Mi5s, neither of which have band 20, and neither of which have issues with 4G away from big towns or cities... your milage may vary, but I don't think this is the be-all and end-all that Andy and Sam will make you believe.

I've got Redmi 4A and often get a pop up saying the calendar has stopped..
The 800mhz band gives longer range coverage and more likely to penetrate walls. So out of town its probably better to have it.
Higher the frequency the shorter the range(e.g. 2600mhz), but carries more data.

Note 4 Global,
Has anyone figured out how to install Google contacts ? Play store reports not compatible.

Thanks

You're comparing apples to oranges...

LG G4 has one of the, if not, best camera in a mobile phone.....

Still on Marshmallow 6.0 (and prob unlikely to get Nougat) but they are quite good at keeping up with monthly android security updates - I'm on the May 2017 patch level

Has some apps but surprisingly little bloatware, certainly compared to Samsung and LG flagships I have bought in the past. Most of the preinstalled apps are actually useful and fairly slim (calculator, notes, gallery etc). Almost everything can be disabled and replaced with google alternatives if you prefer. The only apps I would count as actual bloatware are the 'security' app (which has a pointless antivirus scanner and a RAM cleaner that is unnecessary), the barcode scanner and the MiDrive cloud integration (which can be turned off)

It's decent enough but won't be as good as a G4 or any other recent flagship really. Camera is prob the weakest part of the phone. Still good enough for day to day snaps though
