It seems that the China Redmi Note 4X 4/64GB is now being released in Black colour for Snapdragon version. Prior to this the China Redmi Note 4X 4/64GB was Snapdragon for Blue only< but the 4/64GB in other colours was Mediatek.

Bare in mind this is still a China Market version Redmi Note 4X and seems to be a pre-order with early 2018 dispatch. There is no reason whatsoever to buy it instead of the Redmi Note 4 Global Version for £2 more< which has the same hardware but with beneficial differences:

Redmi Note 4 Global Version:
- Has B20
- English packaging
- Sealed with Global ROM factory Pre-installed

China Redmi Note 4X
- No B20
- Chinese packaging
- Opened box. Global ROM installed by seller.

There has been a long discussion about the B20 issue on numerous Xiaomi threads. A family member has the Mi Max 2 - no B20 - and there have been no issues whatsoever.
I've got 2 Xiaomi phones. No B20 - no issues. Why would I need it? Unless you guys live in a middle of nowhere.. There are plenty of other frequencies providing coverage.

This is good price, but I prefer buying phones from AliExpress due to customs taxes.

I've been using a non B20 Xiaomi phone for almost 2 years now without any issues. However, for this particular phone there's no benefit over the B20 RN4 Global Version due to the differences listed above. Even if B20 is unimportant, you'd still essentially be choosing to wait on a pre-order ("expected to ship after 31st Dec") that will have been opened, when you can get a sealed phone that has identical hardware and is in stock.

Thanks dreadzone101 - I've appreciated your expertise on the other Xiaomi threads! A family member bought the Mi Max 2 (NOT Global Version) because, at the time, it was a steal at £160 (including TCB). I've got the Global Redmi 4x and have now got the Global version of the Mi Max 2. All purchased from AliExpress - quick delivery and no Customs Charges.

I have been using my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 for 18+ months now and have zero complaints, amazing phone for £115. If it did break I wouldn't hesitate in buying another Xiaomi phone.

It's a reference to the band oasis, but I've thought that myself to be fair.

Unfortunately that may not be correct - no issues that they know of - they may have had a better experience with band 20. Bit like the person with free AV who argues that it is as good as a paid solution - very difficult to prove if that is correct.
Lots of Xiaomi threads and posters recounting their experience of not having Band 20. Proof is in the experience of using the phone. And the more tech-savvy posters have explained what B20 is and how/why it's used etc.
Can anyone please tell me if this 4x model has the Sony camera.
I currently have a Redmi note 4 with the Samsung camera lens I believe.. which is good don't get me wrong but the wife has sat on phone number 3 in 12 months so I'm looking for another phone for her🤣.
Any help appreciated ta
