How does the low light camera compare to Smart Ultra 6?

I've just bought a RN5 to replace my aging SU6. The difference in camera performance is HUGE!

I took this picture on my RN5 to contrast strong light & shadows...

Now here's the same shot taken on my old SU6...

The camera does the job, it is smooth and feels like an expensive top end phone. This is a good price but I paid 149.99 from eBay and I had it in 2 days.

I doubt yours was the Snapdragon 636, 4GB/64GB model...if it was then that's a fantastic price sourced from the UK.
Not that it matters but just in case anyone's still reading this thread, I've just had another update for my RN5. It's just a minor one but you get the latest Jun 2018 security patch. Nice.

Not the cheapest it's been, but still an absolutely massive bargain for an incredible phone.

Have some heat!
Really never heard about these phones apart from on here , what phone would this compare with realistically ?

'Realistically' its hard to say because it's somewhere in between Mid range and High end with it's feature set...

The way I generally look at it though is if this specification had a Samsung logo slapped on it, it would easily be double the price...

It lacks things like NFC but it does have a proper dual camera setup, and some great hardware to future proof it somewhat. Xiaomi generally pump out updates for a while on this range too and then there's always the modding community which is usually very good on phones at this price point housing a decent Qualcomm processor.

The best thing for you to do is go through the 'western' websites and look at the specs of the mid-range Samsungs, Motorolas, LG etc... And compare. Drawer your own conclusion based on that alone if you like?

At the risk of dissenters, comparable phones would be the Nokia 7plus or Huawei P20 lite
Price showing as £178 from link is there a code for the £154 price

Wow, no wonder the praise is so high for the price
Is this the same phone as here? hotukdeals.com/dea…739
Sorry, I get rather confused with all the various Xiaomi phones and global this and that.
If it is, is there any advantage of gearbest over AliExpress?

Yes it is the same phone rob, the difference you need to look for is the Xiaomi handsets that have the snapdragon 636 soc cpu, which this one and the one you have pointed out have.

Gearbest are the better of the 2, mainly due to faster shipping times (sometimes!) than ali express, so if you are not in a hurry, save the extra £ from ali, if not gearbest are fine

Redmi 5+ is different to Redmi Note 5 and has the older 625 processor

Spot on. I would assume uniquely in the industry, in their IPO document Xiaomi pledged never to make more than 5% net margin on any of their phones! Hence the crazy low prices for the spec you are getting.

How much usually the custom charges for this phone?

If you choose slow boat from china, eg: gearbest's bog standard delivery, zero afaik, not had any extra charges on gearbest yet, yes there are a few that may have, but think they have also stepped up their delivery game, to combat the massive rise of ecentralglobal's footprint for European buyers

How much usually the custom charges for this phone?

0. Smartphones are duty free.

Possibly VAT though (at 20%) and if you do have to pay the VAT, there might be an admin charge from the delivery company (which is £8 for Royal Mail).

Chances are it flys through no issues but just factor in if you're comfortable with the possibility of an extra £38 on top.
Do Gearbest mark their shipments with the full price paid? Purchased this phone from eglobal and they currently have none in stock (despite holding onto my money for over a week) So before I cancel, I am trying to do the sums if I were unlucky enough to incur vat & charges.

How does the low light camera compare to Smart Ultra 6?

I'm at my son's house at the moment. He has fast Virgin broadband & an AC router (I have neither).

I took the opportunity to compare the WiFi download speed of my new Redmi Note 5 AI with my old Smart Ultra 6 using Ookla's Speedtest app.

The SU6 managed 49.3 Mbps download & 6.38 Mbps upload. The Redmi Note 5 did 110 Mbps download (yes, double!!) and 6.91 Mbs upload (the same-ish).

Not bad for a $US 160 phone!
Hmm. This was my go-to as a plan b if I didn't go for a used LG V20, but I'm interested in the Sharp Archos that's coming in at the same price at the mo on a different post.

R.e. the V20, I bought it from a seller on ebay who sold a few but it had a fault with the signal dropping in and out. He then sent me a replacement but this one has an issue where headphones aren't recognized. So it's send it back and start again and take the risk with another seller, or go for either this or the sharp and have to wait. The V20 is a lovely phone but I know the other 2 would hammer it on battery life
Does anyone know where I can get the 6GB RAM variant?
Thanks, I've ordered one... lets see how long it takes
What do you reckon Mrswitch, this or the Sharp S2? I think I'll buy one of them and either use it to replace the V20 or give it to my Mother.

Not in any of the deliveries I have had from them and that's over a 70 deliveries in the past 4 years including phones and tablets. I've also never ben stung for duty. Not going to say you won't, but I order from Asian sites all the time and I've never once had to pay duty.

And don't forget Quidco cashback on that price as well. Don't know if Topcashback also do it.

I'd get one myself but a year ago I got the version of the Note 4 with the 10 core processor, 3Gb Ram and 64Gb Rom and it works so well I can't really justify the change. Plus, I quite like the IR transmitter on the Note 4 that I use to change the TV's at home and in the canteen at work. Everyone keeps wondering why the work TV keeps switching over to the Big Bang Theory all the time.

Wish gearbest would do the 32gb version of this for £120..
I bought a £30+ dashcam from GearBest and the item never delivered. I contacted them to get refund, but they said I didn't buy the insurance, so they can only give less than half refund (around £13+).

That is the gamble with dealing with Far East, is going through pay pal for a refund an option?
These are great phones, my GF just got hers today. brilliant value for money. Im a bit jealous of her 6" screen, i've just paid double the money for an LG G6, if id have know they were this good i'd have probs saved some money and got one over the G6

Of my three orders with gearbest, I received no goods.

They are absolute cowboys/scumbags and now trying not to fully refund as I did not purchase their shipping insurance.

Please think twice folks, this might be how they make their money.

Steer clear!

Yep. Don’t mind that. But when they go past their own estimates, how long do you wait before raising an eyebrow?

Just bought one at this price, £147.06. With 3% Quidco and £2.50 Quidco 'Football Fever' bonus it should effectively make this £140!

It is annoying, I waited well over 2 months for some stuff which I ordered earlier than products which arrived quicker. You just never know. Phones seem to come quicker, it may just depend on what part of the month you order
