Better off paying £25 more for the 6GB + 128GB Global Mi 9T.

Personally I wouldn't touch mediatek junk, raw performance might be better but generally less stable, worse battery and no where near as good support officially or unofficially. Generally Xiaomi (or any brand) give less support, you might get miui updates but they never update the base android version which they do for the snapdragon versions, and you are unlikely to have a custom rom option either, generally just not worth the trouble.

There is a regular Note 8 which is snapdragon but it's just the old(-ish) 665 and no nfc, this note 8 pro has nfc though so I'm hoping the Note 9 all variants will have nfc by then and I'll get the snapdragon version (hopefully running a newer chip with the better kryo cores).
Is it 5g?

To be fair, that helio chipset looks pretty decent.

Up to 12 days in my experience though YMMV

Am I right in thinking that the Xiaomi CEO has finally grown tired of HUKD moaning and spec'd NFC on these?
In depth review here:

We are all accustomed to Snapdragon but this particular MediaTek (helio G90T) seems to hold it's own.

I don't mind use to snapdragon but depends what the custom ROM community think if it. That usually decides if it's a winner or not.

Week or so, cheaper on aliexpress in all fairness, but more of a risk I guess.
No Band 20 means no 4g?

No Band 20 means no 4g?

Will have 4G but just will not work with Band 20 which is O2/Giffgaff and others.

If your mobile phone network does not use Band 20 then this phone is fine for you. I use Giffgaff so it will not work on it.

No With O2 band 40 , you get 4G

Giffgaff uses O2 network so should work.Unless O2 block band 40 for Giffgaff like EE block band 20 for Virgin SIM cards .

I assumed the poster was talking generally about band 20.

Considering that SD 665 came out this year I wouldn't call it old'ish. Less powerful, yes. Old'ish, no.
nokia 7.2 just came out with SD 660. That I could call old'ish (but still capable).

It might be a recent(ish) chip but its just a slightly up clocked rehash of older ones, it's not using anything new like the new core designs that give big increases like some of the recent newer chips have. It's using the kyro 260 from 2017 like the sd636 & 660. I'd have liked to see something from the 4xx range like the 675 use (and the 730 and 855). A 675 would have made this much more appealing.

I would go for 9T Pro with Snapdragon 855 .
I wonder if Mediatek have finally cracked it with this CPU.
CPU looks decent and the source code is released so the modders would be happy.

Am very interested to see how the camera performs, allegedly in 64mp mode it negates the requirement for optical zoom but I'm not convinced.

Adding NFC is such a boost but for me LCD screen is probably the deal breaker.
