Obviously buy with caution from Gearbest, expect long shipping, poor warranty/customer support, make sure you use every tool like PayPal or/and a credit card to protect yourself in case things go wrong.
FAQ

Has it got band 20 - yes

Has it got a good camera - it scored OK on DXOmark, 84. link here: dxomark.com/xia…ew/

Does it come with a fast charger - yes, but EU plug. use an adapter.

Is it better than x phone - Don't know, do your own research. However I'm confident to say for gaming this best for buck, matching the likes of the snapdragon 845+.

i heard the battery life on this is poor - Yes the processor is not as efficient as the equivalent snapdragon. the average user should be fine for a full day heavy use.

does the phone get hot? - mixed reports. i assume software updates have improved thermals on this device

has it got nfc? - yes. google pay should work but i don't know for certain.

Seems a good price for the pro version, shipping with 'priority line' should only take about 10 days..

I bought mine from Gear best in January just before the flu hysteria and it came in about 10 days, it's a great phone for the price, brilliant gaming performance for how much it costs and I haven't had any thermal issues. The cameras are just ok tbh, the 64mp one seems to always have really bad noise in the darker areas of any picture even in reasonable light, the pictures from the 16mp camera are often more usable.

I'm surprised on your view of the camera. It's not designed to be used in 64mp mode really, or do you mean using the 64mp one in 12mp mode?

What do you mean "it's not designed to be used in 64mp mode"? It has a 64mp camera, results are better with the 16mp that is the default setting, I find the shutter on the 64mp really slow as well so it's quite difficult to avoid motion blur.

I wasn't sure if the 64mp was a 12 or 16mp default, that's really what's it's designed to be used at. I thought the pro version was supposed to be decent as far as the camera was concerned, disappointing to hear given the 8T will be by design, worse.

Its just OK, but for the price I guess that is what you are going to get, I've tried different Android cam apps but none have really made much of difference. My experience seems to match reviews I've read which say despite the headline 64mp stat the camera is average for a mid price phone.

I'm making it sound like I don't like the phone 😄 which is not the case, it is still a great phone for the £160 I paid.
With conversion rates, more like £170 even with coupon
Slightly more expensive but UK seller selling the UK model. I have used these guys before and they are brilliant. Never had a problem with them. They do have other models too. I hope this helps some of you guys out.

Would you recommend the 8 pro or the newer model 9S. I'm in two minds. Seems like their both great handsets.... Decisions, decisions?

Tough one. Newer the better? both great phones, some people would buy the note 8 pro as it has NFC. There is a redmi note 9 (no S) around the corner too...
