Just remember folks, most of mainland China will then be able to log into the camera IP address and admire your interior design, watch tv with you etc. Please do not place this camera in the bedroom, bathroom or anywhere else your tackle or spotty bum can be seen , unless you wish to become a YouTube star.

How?

Technology is a wonderful meaning...
I'm no network expert but I'm fairly sure all these cheap camera's have poor IP address security, Any savvy kid could log in. Look at all the fuss over Samsung TVs watching you recently. Google it, see what you find.

It is more likely that the user / installer has little or poor understanding of security.

Nope.
For the truly paranoid, if it's not hard wired and it's connected to the internet, however remotely, it's not really secure.
I got this last time and for the price it's quite impressive. Fairly easy to set up after watching Youtube..... some instructions and spoken out from camera and in Chinese but if i can do it after 10 mins i think almost anyone can... Great for keeping an eye on the dog when your at work or nipping out to the shops.
remember it won't record to HDD etc and you have to change your router security to wpa1 as it can't use wpa2

once I'd changed that on my ee router then it setup fine. Not sure how someone can see my camera from China. would they not need to hack my router 1st at least?

Downloaded the MiHome app but couldn't get this to work for love or money. Took it to someone more technically savvy than me and they failed also. Not in the least worried about someone from China spying on me if only the blinking thing would work.
This can be hacked easily to remove dependence on the mihome app and enable rtsp streams

Nice little review here.
I think this is better, but not as high resolution.

I have my router on WPA2 and my camera is working fine on it and has been since January.

Took me a good while to work it out. But set the mi home app location to China. Add device. Pick the one that looks like a camera. You will then get a qr code on your screen. Show that to the camera close at first, then move away slowly. Once the camera registers the qr code, you'll get a different Chinese saying. "kung pow Hong poo" or something like that she says. Then it will search and pair. Keep pressing find/pair until it pair's. (mine took 7 or 8 tries)

Lol this isn't true.
Does any one know how to get the 2 cameras working together to get the 180 degree angle.
also I have updated and now can not speak but can hear,i have searched and there seems no way to
down grade the firmware,
saying that I think these are great for the cost, set up to watch the property and send detention alerts
is great, I can watch all of the house now, from any where and store it in the cloud.

can you focus this on the car outside?

you can but you cannot keep the infrared on as it will reflect off the glass. The way to get around this is to have pir flood lights at the front.
Received my two this week, very impressed so far. Motion sensing sends a notification to my mobile within a second or so of detection, device looks and feels well made. Off to Banggood to order some more, thanks Gagao and OP.
Anyone used this as a baby monitor?
Does anyone have a practical use for one of these? In all honesty it doesn't seem ideal for home security, webcam nor baby monitor etc. I'd be interested in know what people are using these for.

I wanted it to look at our cars.. but it's not clear enough through glass to read a number plate. Pointed inside the house it's fantastic quality.
So it may be a pet monitor soon.
I got this before for around £15 and that was too much! It's total trash, impossible to set up properly, menu items make no sense. If you set for motion, you get a notification every time there is motion. You turn off motion and leave it on continuous record instead and you get zero footage.

Almost threw it in the bin. If there was still a FSFT section, I'd flog it.

Do not buy this camera! It's pants!!

I have one and it does not work

Complete waste of money

furiousjammin....................many thanks, will give it a try. Looks like lots of people are having problems with it. Needs to be properly supported by Xiaomi then I think we might be getting excellent results and more happy customers.
I have one, works perfectly well, a doddle to setup if u have more than one brain cell
Connect with qnap anyone know

Have been using a broadly similar Chinese IP cam (foscam clone) very successfully as a baby monitor. Would imagine this'd do a similar job. Xiaomi products are usually excellent.
Great camera. Bought 2 a few weeks ago. No facility to upload to cloud drives.

4.5 gig of SD storage per day of recording.
I set it up for motion detection which will capture 15s clip every 5 minutes. The footage is stored on Mi servers. Great for monitoring areas which you aren't expecting motion. You can turn off notifications if you are monitoring areas of constant traffic
