Xiaomi Aqara Temperature sensor £4.06 delivered.

Just received the gateway today and got it working with the window and doors sensors. Works brilliantly, so I went shopping for some more sensors and came across the code AQARAUK to drop the price on the temperature sensor. You have to be signed in for this to work.

Ill now be able to get notifications when the misses sets the house heating to "tropical" whilst I'm at work.

Why bother? Just open a weather app?

Can you link the gateway you ordered? Could this work just via app?

Ha, yours must have flown on the same plane as mine. . Didn't use a guide and all instructions are in Chinese. Just plugged gateway in and opened mihome app and it recognised and connected no probs. Then chose devices, add sub devices and find your sensor. Press a really small button on the sensor until a blue light flashes and it will show up on the app. I've kept my yeelights on the Singapore sever so that I have Google home assistant control over them. The gateway will be my security system. I'm happy with this set up for now.

Got a couple of these last time the code worked at £4.12, so will go for a couple more. Thanks OP.

Does this work with Alexa?

Bought thanks. A bunch of my door sensors turned up today too. Nice clean design and small too. Connecting these to a smarthings hub.

Can anyone link me the gateway and sensors please?

Am I right in thinking these need a plug adapter to work over here?
Thanks

Can you just buy this? Would it work? I have a Xiaomi phone. Do I need more kit?

Yes a gateway, £20

Doesn't this have the same Singapore server issue as all other Xiaomi products?

Only if you connected it via a Samsung smartthings hub and not the Xiaomi gateway. The Xiaomi gateway cannot connect to Alexa or google home assistant......yet. it has to connect via the Chinese servers which are not recognised by the smart assistants.

If it does choose China. I use China as it covers the full range, although this is actually connected directly to Samsung Smartthings so isn't using the hub at all.

Doesn't work for me

Status UK visitor adapters work well with the hub. Which I use both in 4 Gang underneath the hub and also in a wall socket too.

Yeelights work with Alexa, Google etc because they are in a way separate to Xiaomi but also a partner. They have their own website, app and development team but still form part of the Xiaomi smart ecosystem. That's how I understand it anyway.

I'm not sure, luckily I had one from another Chinese product I've bought. I think it would be the same as an Australian to English adapter. Don't quote me on that though. I'd need to check.

I use the old version with smartthings. Works really well. This should work too if someone is interested.

Do you have a link for the items by any chance?

Poundland have them.

i wonder - could you use this with a nest to create room zones - or something ?

Mine has just arrived but I'm not sure if I can be bothered setting everything up the joys of HUKD.

I've got the hub, 2 door sensors, a motion sensor if you were interested. You could buy them what it cost me which is lower than what the price for the hub is right now.

Like I said, I nay set it up, may not but if you are interested then let me know. I'm in the UK so would get to you in quick time without fear of additional charges.

I've got a young family and as much as I would like to tinker with home automation, I'm going to stick to yeelights and hive for the moment

I don't think you can. the hub/gateway is a closed system, much like all the other 'home automation' services so you can't mix and match, at least I don't think so.

Do you know how to log in to the IDE?

There's a link to the code in the first post on that thread (github)

On github - view code/device types/devicetype.src - thecode.groovy

You can either copy/paste it in to a new devicetype on the IDE or create a github account and do it that way. For some code it would be best to use github integration but all those device handlers you'd be ok just copying it in.

I can't provide a detailed how-to for you, but happy to help if you get stuck and I'm sure others would to

Fairly new myself tbh. You are best reading the how to/intro guides on the community forums on how to setup an IDE account, from here you are able to import custom or forum written device handlers and smartapps for those items that Smartthings haven't formally integrated yet. Make a cuppa and set aside some time though
