With the amount of Xiaomi stuff I have bought, it'll be cheaper and better to change the UK sockets to Chinese ones rather than buying adaptors

Looks like it comes with a UK adapter based on the reviews [Image]

You probably wouldn't want to use the ones that are included.
I don't think they're UK spec. No fuses etc. Buy a separate adapter is my advice.

Bought one yesterday at this price hot from me.

Could that not be changed by a qualified sparky?

noticed with the demos of this with a TV, there's a delay in colour change. Seems a bit distracting. Guess there's no way to remove the delay?

Same here, I'd like to run it on the staircase and have it triggered by motion sensors using the gateway but the cable looks too short to run under the carpet to the plug, especially with the inline switch.

Just ordered and yep, no way I'd trust the one in the pics. Anyone got a good alternative?

I have a xiaomi yeelight multicolor bulb and it works very well, therefore I expect this lightstrip to do the same. However the lack of UK plug is a big no for me, it would make the plug very bulky... I did not not either way.

Why not use a UK extension cable, it'll be fused anyway so you can use a cheap cn-uk adaptor ?

Can they be extended by linking together if I wanted more than 2m?

doesn't look like it, the power end is attached so you can't replace the power module for a higher amp module.

You could of course but would not look as neat I have 2 items with Chinese plugs ATM so would look ugly imo

FAQ may have written before compatibility was added. Yeelight was a fairly recent addition.

I've got the same extension block, might look at swapping the plug. Good idea.
Mines still in the box, been waiting for my gateway.

Bought one a few months back to replace old ambient strip lights from IKEA and its been fine. The big plus was minimal cabling being USB powered, and the auto on/off along with the TV. The only neg was that the adhesive backing on the strip lights was so so, maybe I should've dusted better lol.

Quick question please. Is the default plug moulded, necessitating chopping it off? Or can it be unscrewed?

Looks moulded in the pics but would appreciate confirmation.

How easy are these to cut into separate bits?

No these will not work directly with SmartThings but I think someone has come up with a method using a device handler and tasker app as a remote hub.

Which motion sensors are you thinking of using? I'm also thinking of the stair case idea with a light strip under the hand rail.
Also do you happen to know if this light strip can be exptended? My hand rail is 3.6m long so a 2m light strip is not going to be enough although maybe 3m would be just about enough.

These ones
One near the top of the stairs, one at the bottom.
Need to also have the Xiaomi gateway and probably a good understanding of the Chinese language

Extended? I don't know if that's possible. I never bought this due to the chunky cable being too short and bulky for my needs, I wanted to run the cable under a carpet to the skirting.
