I missed the last deal for this but I left the tab open in case the price dropped again

It hasn't

BUT they're giving a hefty £5.18 discount if you buy it through the app, which makes it cheaper than the original deal. If you click the little link underneath the price on the product page, it'll take you to the app on the app store. Then just search for it within the app. It's already discounted

Smart functions (remote alert) require a Xiaomi Gateway ( m.gearbest.com/liv…tml ) connected to your router

*about the app*
It expects you to enter your full credit card or PayPal details *within* the app. You probably shouldn't do that. Instead, select PayPal at the checkout and when you get transferred to the PayPal site (within the app) and asked for your username/password, exit the app. After 10-15 minutes, you'll get an email with information about your order (basically an invoice). Click the link in that and pay in your regular browser, just to be safe

Honeywell are market leaders in this sort of thing. I'd trust them. And Xiaomi are on a mission to take over the planet, so they have an interest in things that work properly.
I'd trust this.

Hot!
Note : This is not a fire alarm it is a 'Fire Alarm Detector' - don't get this if you want to detect fires - it will only detect fire alarms

I don't trust anything that my life may depend on directly from a Country that has been known to fake baby milk. Ok if a reputable importer checks it first, but not direct.

I know what your saying. However this is a good brand.
Not all Chinese products are cheap rubbish. Nothing but positive about xiaomi and the like.
Next you will say Apple products can’t be trusted there made in China too lol

Maybe worth investigating buying smoke alarms from a country known to make faulty ones that are fitted by the national fire brigades!

Do you need their hub/gateway for this to work or does it use WiFi?

And why do you think now everting’s made in China? To male them cheaper! So losers like would be able to afford buying everything. Do you think you’d be afford household stuff made in the UK?!
My only issue with these is they do not detect carbon monoxide, just smoke which isn't ideal
Can I use this with the rest of the Xiaomi smart home kit to beep when someone opens and closes a door using the door sensors after a certain time?
What’s smart about it? Description offered is worse than the website itself.

so why dont you buy one that does? this is a smoke alarm not a co detector.
What does it mean that the alarm is progressive? Does it start of quiet and get louder? Which would be pointless - if there's smoke I'd want to be woken abruptley!

My point was - can you trust these are genuine, when you are buying from a Chinese market place? Why would Honeywell be selling through Gearbest? They may be real or very good copies, but who are you going to sue if one of these fails (presuming you are still alive)?

Did you bother to read the article - there is no safety implication they still work as smoke detectors. The battery low indicator just goes off too early.

A lot were made in China, but I bought them from UK companies, that I can sue if they burn my house down. Good luck taking a domestic Chinese company to court.

Why do you think Gearbest wouldn't check where their stocks are from? Why do you think Gearbest would want to destroy their business by selling products that will burn your house down? Do you really think Tesco or Argos are brilliantly doing their job making sure everything's safe? No! They are doing as much as Gearbest does! Let me show you a list that Argos puts to recall their products: argos.co.uk/m/s…htm. Now you really still think UK companies actually know what products they are selling?
Good luck with your conspiracy theories and watch out when you passing under a scaffolding, because they may collapse, or don't go out in a storm day, because lightning might hit you (just like the products from Gearbest might burn your house).

Now show me Gearbest's recall list, or are all their products perfect?
