I want one so bad

Did they go from the z1 compact straight to the z3 compact (missing out z2 compact) ?

just wondering

Yeah. No Z2 compact.

Also, there's the Xperia Tablet Compact (an 8 inch Z3 essentially)

looks like a good price for the compact. ... but shocked that the larger one is so expensive..... :-(
I would consider the compact but would like a bigger screen than my current galaxy s3

What £500+? I've not checked the price but £500+ is normal for these 'full size' models on release.

shame it's 'only' 1280x720, apart from that though looks first rate, the camera is possibly the best out of any mobile, fair play to sony. I think Samsung, HTC et al are guilty of palming off some cheap components to the unwary with their compact/mini versions of flagship phones...

Also really tempted by this phone, same as above though, put off by the screen resolution. When is the release date? Think I'd want to see the screen first personally, before buying.

why are people put off by the resolution? it's a 4'6" screen! unless you're using your phone with your nose you won't see the pixels! it's higher density than nexus 4 and I don't think anyone complained about the quality on that 1080 would be overkill on a screen this size and just pointlessly eat the battery!

Heat added. Ordered. Only had my Z1 compact for 5 months, but this is too good a price to miss. £200 for my z1 on E-bay

It's smaller, has a lower resolution screen, older camera (from z2) and smaller battery

Doesn't it only have 2gb of ram too? As opposed to 3gb on the Z3.

The Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact share the exact same camera, including the new 25mm wide-angle G Lens.

The only downside with this is that rev 1 versions of Sony handsets are normally plagued with issues. The z1 compact and xperia s being two recent examples I've owned.

However, I am tempted. This does seem to me to be the perfect balance of size and performance.

They look better to me. The difference was clear when I upgraded to my HTC One m7 from HTC One X. Is there a release date? Would still like to see the screen in the flesh.

Really like my Z1 Compact, shame I have 18 months left on it though or I'd be tempted to upgrade.

Really like my Z1 Compact, shame I have 18 months left on it though or I'd be tempted to upgrade.

Why do they have to use nano sim? I'll need to buy another cutter. >_>

This might be my next phone.

While this a great price. I have owned all the z phones, Z, Z1, Z2, and currently Z1 compact as it is my favourite model Z so far.
I've been looking forward to 'upgrading' to the next compact and have to say i'm quite disappointed with sony for the following reasons.

They havent matched the full sized z3 specs like they did between the z1's as the z3 full size has 3gb ram
I dont really see what's upgraded here from the Z1 compact, apart from a marginally faster clocked processor which will probably heat up more as the architecture is basically the same but just clocked 300 faster than the snapdragon 800.

The battery life is reduced due to the larger screen as they haven't increased battery capacity in proportion with screen size and processing, and its still only 720p when other phones are moving to quad HD now.

The ram is still the same. the resolution is still the same, the camera is still 20MP apart from lens angle change its no different hardware wise.

so what are we paying for here? A slightly larger screen at the cost of reduced battery life , marginally faster processor at the cost of extra heat and reduced battery life again. Official Software updates is all i can think of as they are currently holding us back on 4k video even though our hardware is more than capable.

voted hot btw lol

Cause SPECS is what matters! LOL. Some monkeys rate SPECS above anything, without actually getting their hands on a device, their is no point arguing with them either.

Maybe the audio hardware (DAC/amp) is different to the Z1 compact, as Sony are now claiming hi-rez audio compatibility and some sort of 'upsampling' that they claim improves MP3 playback.

the battery life in streaming your ps4 is gonna be awful isn't it... much better off getting a cheap ps vita is that's why you want this phone I would imagine

Sony are the only company that makes their Mini-Flagship series as high spec as their regular models, everyone else, HTC, LG, and Samsung all cut back on the RAM and SoC.

If you had a 720p z3 compact side by side with a qHD z3 compact, I guarantee you would see no difference at all.

Forget about the bloomin specs, this is a great phone beside from the plastic build/bezels

I tried to buy a phone from this site. It didn't arrive for a week so when I rang them I was told it hadn't arrived from Asia yet for secondary postage within the uk. I cancelled and went elsewhere.

Is this a lot better than the Z1 Compact?

Why? Streaming is equivalent to watching a video over the network; it will last as long as if you were watching something on netflix because the main processing is done by your PS4.

Whilst I agree that having those extra pixels yield diminishing returns it is a fallacy to state that people wouldn't be able to see a difference because depending on the media it is definitely differentiable.
