Its actually only 720p. Amazon have the wrong specs for it.
£311.99 from O2

I have just upgraded from my z3 compact. Not a lot between the 2, but the fingerprint sensor is great.

Cracking phone...great audio and don't let the 720p screen resolution put you off. Because it's a smaller screen and sonys technology, there's not much between the screen quality on this and some of the bigger boys. If anyone tells you otherwise, take it with a pinch of salt and look at the reviews.

Sony isn't everyone's cup of tea, but this is a nice waterproof, nippy, compact phone, with 4k video record, SD card slot and MHL output, which a lot don't have nowadays. It's just down to your own preference, but I think they're great, as not everyone wants a large phone, but they still want a decent spec, so this ticks the boxes.

O2 one will be SIM locked, bootloader locked - so no way to debrand it = slower updates, also O2 splash screen etc. Would rather pay the extra myself

clearly not a good deal then, so many cold votes, but where can you buy an unlocked x5 compact for cheaper?
