This wasn't working properly on Saturday as it was reverting to original price and then discounting 30%...nice to see they've fixed it.

the other two i bought were from the dell outlet. maybe thats why there were issues

they were NO WHERE near this price mind. well done op

Nice price and decent spec.

But to be honest I'd prefer the XPS 13 with a touch screen. This is a terrible tablet and weighs more than the 13".

Buy it if you want a slightly heavy ultra-book, but not as a tablet.

The XPS has a touch screen, it's a tablet/laptop.
Great machine, had mine for about a year.

I'm aware of its touch screen, I'd just prefer the XPS 13 with its optional touchscreen.

I ordered new XPS 12 and returned it. It is too heavy to be a tablet. I've even owned the original Dell Inspiron Duo, the old Atom net-book convertible.

IMO its just pointless getting the XPS 12 when the tablet mode is stupid, and adds extra weight.

The machine is well built.

Superb deal, I would have gone for this if I didn't get the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga last month

so,it is just only for specific people?

Thanks...ordered.

absolutely awesome deal, I bought a i5, 128gb ssd 4gb ram for about this price 1-2 months ago and I have an engineer booked to replace the screen tomorrow but I was offered a refund instead so I am trying to cancel the engineer and get a refund and buy this instead for a "free" upgrade.

Taken a gamble and ordered it anyway, hoping I can indeed get a refund on my current one.

Btw the problem with the current one is screen burn which I see is common on this model, hoping the new one has a doesn't get this problem.

no no no must not... I have a perfectly capable Surface Pro!!

I bought the exact same spec from the Outlet a couple of months back, for what I thought was a great price then... £725 all in

Same issue with the screen burn in. Will be contacting Dell to get it replaced.

Until they release something that resembles more of the Surface Pro 3 - good call!

It indeed is far to heavy to be a tablet, Fablet (Fat Tablet) would be a better description

Great deal, I need a VIP code though to order I assume?

tablet mode isn't perfect but I do enjoy reading comics on the big screen (obviously resting the tablet on lap) but for portrait mode tableting most of the time using the keyboard as a stand works great and is actually more useable as both hands are free.

I'm taking about using it like this http://www.tapscape.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Dell-XPS-12-Flipped.jpg

I have seen a few people use their Yoga? from Lenovo like that. Makes sense for work use I suppose when you are at the desk etc.

makes sense

Still waiting on the manufacturers to listen and bring out more devices like the Asus T300 transformer.... which 9 months or so on still isn't available...

Do I send the Omni 10 back and get this??

I totally agree, for the money nothing beats this but I would love something with a better tablet mode and as good laptop mode. If the surface 3 had a proper laptop dock then that would be an ideal device (although probably extremely expensive)

That would mean the big corporations won't be able to sell you a tablet and a laptop. I think they don't want the unifying of both devices into one, to kill their sales. It will slowly but surely get there..............

You should know, i had one of these, they suffer from a major screen retention issue, dell gave me a refund after 6 months of no fix, they are also very big for a convertible and not really usable in tablet mode.. and the track-pad is the worst I have ever used.

just Google XPS 12 screen retention you will see it affects every single owner...

Anybody interested in this should really understand that they ALL have screen ghosting issues and none ever been fixed by dell

I had an xps12 but changed it for a surface pro (2). I'd personally keep the surface, I think it's much better. The build quality is better and it works as a tablet better as well.

I had a refurbished one of these from the outlet a few months back. I contacted dell about the screen retention issue as I'd seen on the forum that they had a planned fix for it. They told me that they had a new screen that would resolve the problem completely. An engineer was sent to my house to swap the screen, which he did happily in my sitting room. After he left, though, the retention issue remained and a number of new problems arose - fuzzy lines, dreadful WiFi, etc. Personally the retention issue hadn't really bothered me that much. I wish I'd never had the engineer out to try and fix it. In the end I returned the device for full refund as didn't trust the onsite repair.

That said, before the engineer started messing with it, it was the best laptop I've ever owned and at this price for a new i7 I am very tempted to order again and simply accept the ghosting problem.

This is a good spec for this money. Very good. Full HD screen in anything smaller than 15.6" laptops tends to come at a premium. Factor in that it's an i7 (although a lower power one so not quite as much grunt) with SSD, touchscreen, etc etc. I think you'll struggle to find anything cheaper and better. On paper at least.

Screen burn sounds like it sucks though.

Excellent price for this laptop with these specs.
Heat.

Yeah, was very tempted until I saw the screen retention issue... Dell claims it will be fixed but from the reports of various people who have received the new screens, the jury is still out on the verdict it seems. Here's the full post in all it's 64 pages glory:

I had terrible wifi with this, plus screen retention issues and occasional complete screen blackouts or flickering the bottom 1/2 of the machine.

Looks a good deal

I had the flickering and blackouts too but these were both fixed through graphics settings (I cant remember which but wasn't too hard to find). My wifi had been great until the engineer opened it up...

I should be more clearer..I received the code from Dell Friday and noticed it wasn't taking a full 30% off the any of the 5 selected machines as they all had current price disounts (actually the XPS 13 didn't so that was okay) What was intersting though was that the 10% VIP code also worked alongside the 30% off code....but as it was 30% off the pre-discounted machine it made little difference (although it did knock the XPS 13 down to £629)
Quite fancy this now but the IR issue has me a tad worried.

any benefit to this? I'm planning on uninstalling it right away and stick with msse (which I thought was part of windows 8 anyway?)

Hi twinkle, my turn to be clearer.
What I meant was that the OP should have included info on what a VIP code is in the deal.

hottest deal of the day for me, shame I got my lenovo yoga about 4 months ago.
