I bought mine to replace an i5 powered Thinkpad x240 and it performs just as well. It is a very good performing laptop and quiet slim. Backlit keypad. Very easy to upgrade by taking the back off. 12 month Dell warranty. Plus unbelievably good support from XSonly. Ignore the ill informed comments on the CPU.
Hi - yes keyboard is backlit with 2 brightness levels to select from. Dave
Thanks, that's really useful. I'd ordered some memory with the specs you posted. I was just puzzled by the fact that Intel themselves suggested that spec of RAM wasn't supported! I'll try the online memory checker to see what's installed already when it arrives, so I can return what I bought if it doesn't match.
Yes, it's got the 4415U CPU. I've found one of the most reliable sources for memory information the Crucial website (uk.crucial.com) which shows the memory for the Dell Inspiron 13 5378 as "DDR4 PC4-19200 • CL=17 • Single Ranked • x8 based • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-2400 • 1.2V" They also have an on-line memory checker which you can run that shows what's currently fitted and what upgrades are possible. While the processor itself may support a variety of memory types (which is why the info from Intel gives a number of different types) , a specific chipset and BIOS will generally only support a limited type.
Thanks. Is yours the 4415U model? I'm confused because on the Intel website, it states that this processor only supports DDR4-2133, LPDDR3-1866, DDR3L-1600. But yours recognised the DDR4-2400 fine right?
