Extreme Sports Star Xander Cage (Vin Diesel), is recruited by an NSA agent to become a different kind of undercover agent. Enlisted for a dangerous covert mission, Xander must use all his extreme skills to combat a clever, organised and ruthless enemy far beyond the scope of his experience.
xXx Review
In the latest movie from "Fast and the Furious" star Vin Diesel and director Rob Cohen, we're introduced to a new generation of super spy: extreme sports enthusiast and internet anarchist Xander Cage, aka xXx (or "Triple X"). The film takes the familiar James Bond template but puts a twenty first century spin on it, with a dinner jacket & bow tie wearing spy killed in the opening scene, and a central hero who really isn't that interested in serving his country. Even the world menacing villain comes from a slightly more anarchic perspective: this one doesn't want to rule the world, he simply wants to destroy it.
"xXx" is, quite simply, great fun. Vin Diesel proves once again that he has what it takes to fill Arnold Schwarzenegger or Bruce Willis' shoes as the next generation of charismatic action hero, and Samuel L Jackson gives a fine supporting performance as his new agency boss. But what really ensures that you will leave your local multiplex with a huge grin across your face are some truly spectacular - and utterly preposterous - action scenes that flawlessly combine genuine stunts with state of the art CGI effects. It's hard to imagine that 2002 will produce a more enjoyable action movie than this!
