Saw this and thought it might be worth a post as it has decent reviews and is the cheapest I have seen it.

Bought it on Ebuyer's bf deal last year (£10 more) and has been a strong and easy to use 3D printer. Tend to do things with the kids for their homework. Think this is a good first 3D printer.

Admittedly it only uses XYZ filaments, but mine tend to last ages and are easy to change.

Explore 3D Printing
The XYZ Da Vinci Junior is a great way for youngsters, adults and experimental designers alike to experience the wonders of 3D printing. The ideal size for mounting on a desktop in the bedroom, classroom or office it is probably the best value, and most affordable, 3D printer on the market.

Simple to set up, easy to use
For novice users 3D printers can be difficult to calibrate and set up. However, the Da Vinci Junior is designed to be used more or less straight out of the box. As it doesn't need to be calibrated it is as easy to set up as a normal inkjet printer.

The printing process is straightforward and the user can print directly from a computer using the bundled software and a USB connection.
Alternatively, pop in an SD card and set up the print using the touch display on the front of the machine.

How it prints
The XYZ Da Vinci Junior uses a process known as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF). Basically the plastic material used to print, or build, an object is loaded onto a spool which is then fed via a filament to the printing plate. The object is printed using layer upon layer of the material which hardens and sets almost immediately.

The printer can be set to one of four resolutions, ranging from 100 to 400 microns. Basically, the higher the micron setting the faster the object is printed as the resolution, or quality, is lower.

Looks like a good deal, not sure I would trust my kids with the open hot nozzle.

Couldn't agree more (I own 4 3d printers)

I've been looking at this! Great price! Head added!

Heated, good price, might be a way round (more expensive) proprietary cartridge filaments
