Yakuza 4 is out next week, probably the reason for the further reduction. Brilliant game, so much to do and steeped in atmosphere.

80/100 on Metacritic metacritic.com/gam…a-3

It should even me the special edition version, because I don't think that a normal version was released. That means it has a soundtrack cd and extra DLC.

Is this a bit like Shenmue? If it is i may have to buy a PS3 just to buy this game...

Cracking game and a steal at the price - heat added.

Its not really very much like shenmue, if you go in thinking it is you'll be disappointed however most people who like one *tend* to like the other.

If you've got a Ps2 its worth picking up one of the earlier games because apart from general speed and smoothness very little has changed in the Ps3 versions (you'll also stand a far better chance of following the very convoluted plot if you start earlier in the series)

There's a synopsis and a relationship tree built into the game so they don't leave you in the dark. The story of Yakuza 3 is a pretty self contained one though.

There are a lot of similarities to Shenmue, you can learn extra moves, and you can buy weird food and mess about in the arcades etc for hours without progressing anywhere in the game X)

I basically bought myself a PlayStation for this game and the upcoming fourth title.

Thank you! Any deals on here for PS3s at the moment, i think i need to buy one lol.

Never understood the appeal of this series. All the games to date played and looked extremely dated. Also lots of VERY cringeworthy posturing and dialogue.

I loved the Shenmue games and also tried Yakuza in the hopes of getting some kind of similar Shenmue style fix. I was sorely disappointed.

Are you thinking of the first game where they dubbed it in English? I can't think of any cringeworthy dialogue since then. The detail in Yakuza 3 is amazing and the expressions on people's faces is brilliant. I would agree that some of the elements of the gameplay are a bit dated like running around feels a bit floaty and there's invisible barriers, but everyting else makes up for it

To be honest I'm thinking of Yakuza 3 in particular. The first seemed to go for realism more than anything, and I did enjoy it to some degree. Gone seriously downhill since then. I keep (stupidly!) trying these games cos I'm a big fan of japanese gangster films etc.

Oh well, then I'm doubly unsure why you don't like them but Yakuza 4's not going to change your mind.

I got that with Fallout: New Vegas, they seem to have debited my account but haven't taken the money after 2 days.
