From OP's link:

"How secure is the safe?
In addition to the PIN combination being three to eight digits long, there are 15 mm solid steel locking bolts for that added sense of security. The safe also has pre drilled holes within the base and the back of the safe and includes bolt fixings for affixing it. This allows you to secure the safe to the floor or onto the wall, further increasing the security of the safe."

I agree though it's pretty pointless the only reason I would think something like this might be useful is if it was fire proof (which this isn't...) for storing passports and other documents etc.

A pro thief told me he loves to see people having a small safe in their house, don't need to look around, just take the whole thing.

same price on amazon

As a locksmith for years
Would never recommend these cheap safes
If it's valuable
Why would you choose junk

So buy a safe as a decoy, put a brick in it for them to take and carry on hiding things under my mattress?

Was thinking the same.
But if it had a brick in it, you might find Johnny Burglar chucks it through your window for taking the Micky! I'd put in a fake Rolex.

so which safe don't fall foul of the potato trick. obviously for a house so don't want something military grade as that would out of my budget.

Apparently, there are things you can do to improve these types of safe, when I read up on it before it seemed to centre around the spring holding the lock in place. Not too difficult, it seems it is a matter of unscrewing the back panel and stretching the spring.

It is a worry when you have these safes in hotel rooms. Then again - the hotel would have an override code anyway, so you have to weigh up the security issues.

Floor board safes are better. Hide valuables where burglars not likely to look , in the loft, in the bathroom .
OP s safe is expensive , I have seen these type in sales as low as £19.99 and yes they can all be opened with a knock on the front .

Bought a similar one from Argos for £29.99 to keep (prescribed) drugs in away from little hands. My diamonds however are just lying around glinting in the sun, next to an open window...

well I keep only old cheque book in my one not any valuables but it's there so look 4 nothing else and nowhere else....
And on top of nothing pricy in there it will take good 30 minutes to pull it off the wall but best of luck
