A low-life thief who’s determined, experienced or brazen enough can defeat virtually any lock. It’s something you have to accept. All you can do is make the opportunity harder. This lock has a Sold Secure Gold rating, which means it’s better than most, and will be more than acceptable to your bike insurers and it’s a fantastic reduction. I wouldn’t hesitate to get it if I didn’t already have locks (two locks provide twice as much deterrent value). Also, I suspect that thieves who steal bikes by picking locks are definitely in a minority. Most incidents are opportunistic thefts where locks are forced. This lock will will probably serve to route the thief’s attentions elsewhere and even if it doesn’t, it will last a lot longer under such an attack than most at this price, increasing the risk for the yobs who think they have a right to help themselves to your possessions. Heat from me. (edited)

Leave it where you chain the bike up.

Just remember to keep the receipt for insurance purposes if your bike does get stolen. I have several and always try to leave it in an area with cctv too.

Mine has just arrived and be warned it a heavy bit of kit. Be ideal if you could leave it at the station but they are now removing them so you have to take it everyday. It’s too heavy really to carry with you every day. Can anyone recommend a decent lighter lock. These are close to 2Kg !

Not a bad lock but can be picked by someone who knows what they are doing quite easily.

Every lock can be picked or broken & this one takes quite a while.

Hardly anyone is going to spend time trying this one.

amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WE4FU5U? this one is £15.99 and gold rated for cycles. The sold secure rating is important for some insurances. There's a smaller shackle burg watcher one that's £12.99 and rated as diamond for bike too if that's a good shape/size

It's that lock, this combo is a sold secure gold rated chain and the diamond rated lock above. Not exactly portable as it weighs approximately as much as a small European car.

    amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B001CN0D0G that's £9.99
A silver rated cable. 12mm so it's beefy, but really lightweight. (edited)
