I've read lots about this receiver in various forums and it has been praised by all. I bought one this morning and have recieved an e-mail confiming that it has been dispatched and should arrive tomorrow. Woohoo :w00t:
Why the cold votes? I can't find a better av receiver for this price:thinking:

Yamaha RXV 1800 @ £549

£250 is a lot more for the 3800 and I suppose it becomes debatable regarding diminishing returns of extra cost versus sound quality improvement.

Yeah just reviewed the specs and the 1800 seems to offer much the same for a lot less. It would be my choice if I was in the market for an amp at £500 or so

Exactly the same price,. and others are exactly the same
eg. creative-audio.co.uk/YAM…php

It seems this is just the current standard price anywhere!
The key point on this deal is that it will only be available at this price for a very short time (admittedly from a couple of suppliers), but once it's gone, it's gone: Yamaha no longer supply it to retailers. The saving, I suppose, is around £500 from it's launch price of £1,300(ish) from last year.

I did think about getting the RX-V1800, but obviously plumped for the RX-V3800 instead.
Anyway, thanks for the comments - it seemed chilly in here without any reason why.
wish i had got this baby instead of my onkyo 875. Thats proof that features are not what makes an AVR. I'm sure knowing Yamaha amps the sounds improvement will more than merit the price increase esp. as it was sposed to be another third more expensive than this price....

I went fot it bickers. I've cancelled my order with Peter Tyson and bought one from HiSpek for £729 (plus £13 P&P). I did ask Peter Tyson if they'd price match, but they said they couldn't. I'm working tomorrow so I'll not get it till Saturday, but hey, I've just saved £57, so I can wait an extra day. :-D

p.s. - HiSpek only had two in stock before I ordered mine; so if anybody else wants one, you better be quick about it.

cheers and rep bickers:thumbsup:
