I've been looking for a similar one to this that allows you to plug in an external subwoofer, as I have a yamaha sub. Ah well. Heat any, these are meant to be great for the money!

A sound bar is on my list to buy sometime soon. Be careful on this one though if you need Bluetooth as this model doesn’t have that function. A real shame. Amazon comparison chart indicates it has.

Unless they changed from the 101 these have sub out connections. Both my 101 bars have it and this is more or less the same.

I take it all back. No sub, but RCA at least (so Chromecast music is an option) what a shame!

dont bother about soundbars, get proper cinema set if you wanna realy enjoy the movie

Yeah - great plan if you dont have the space for the speakers or are just wanting better sound than the TV alone eg. in a bedroom!

This one doesn't get great reviews though - Samsung 450 @ Currys for £149 looks to be better with bluetooth and wireless sub or Sony 280 for 179 seems to be the best bang for buck at moment.

There is a good review of it here audioaffair.co.uk/blo…ma/

I've got the YAS 103 which is almost identical, the only difference is the 103 has Bluetooth. I paid £99 and think it is excellent for the price, good sound quality. Have some hea

I've tried one of these Yamaha soundbars and was not impressed so returned it to Richer sounds,I ended up buying a set of Creative T40 speakers for less money and placed one each side at the rear of the tv and the sound is brilliant for a 2 speaker setup.

I have this and the sound is excellent as you would expect from Yamaha.

As for the lack of bluetooth, buy a cheap bluetooth reciever on ebay and plug it into the RCA in. Problem solved.

I didn't replace my old home cinema system as it was just clogging the place up, and I only used it occasionally - now, with a Soundbase I use it much more often as it is connected by HDMI-CEC and has the benefit of not taking more room up than half the furniture! Not as good a sound of course, but more convenient and flexible.

Isn't this defeating the whole point of this type of gear to not have cables and stuff hanging out all over the place? :-(

Sorry - right enough. It was the lack of BT and HDMI that put me off this one. Want to use one remote (sky) for volume and that's not possible without using HDMI ARC if I understand it properly

Also getting a wireless sub for one of the other two I mentioned. Will be at Currys tonight to compare these and will see if the 93 is on show too

Then don't buy it? It's just an option as the sound quality of the Yamaha is quite good as is the price.
I personally don't think a matchstick sized box and a 0.5 metre cable tucked at the back is the end of the world.

Nice bit of kit for £100. Yamaha are usually decent quality.

The soundbar will learn - my Sky remote and TV remote both power on/off my Yamaha 101 and all of the bars can either learn or pass through/repeat IR.

I've been looking around lately and here's the best I've found at £130 LG SH4D 2.1 etc.

Main issue was volume control rather than powering off/on tbh

I have the Sony 290 sitting next to me boxed up to return to Amazon. It worked as I needed but had zero bass despite a wireless sub being connected. It was working as could feel some vibration with a hand over the grill but nothing that added anything to the experience.

See this is posted as a deal - but annoyingly the 5 is "on sale" for 139 at Argos...but nowhere seems to have it

I've got a pair of these (well the 101) and volume control with other remotes has always been exemplary. Other's mileage may of course vary!

I eventually plumped for the LG SJ3 for £130.
