This package includes the Yamaha RXV473 AV, alone that is selling elsewhere for £260 +. 4 HDMI inputs and can pass 3D signals.

Great home setup, for the purists you could probably upgrade the speakers but at this price it's an amazing sound deal for the price.

Decription:

The Yamaha YHT398 home cinema system consists of a high spec Yamaha AV receiver with ideally matched Yamaha speakers for a balanced sounding system.

COMPREHENSIVE HD PROCESSING

With HD Audio format decoding for Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, the Yamaha YHT398 has the digital processing power to take the fight to its rivals head on. Furthermore, this powerful processing is backed up by an impressive amplifier for a budget model. Once processed by the 192/24-bit Burr Brown DACs on each channel, the sound goes through a high power, low impedance amplifier with an impressive 85 watts per channel.

EXTENSIVE CONNECTIVITY

Coming complete with four, 3D compatible HDMI sockets, the Yamaha is the ideal home cinema receiver for a 3D TV future. With four HDMI inputs and a monitor output you're all set for linking up either 3D or conventional sources and connecting them through to a 3D or conventional TV. Furthermore, there's also support for an Audio Return Channel, letting you feed back the sound from your TV through the home cinema speakers with just one HDMI cable. Further future-proofing comes from the 4K pass-through HDMI sockets. These will allow the Yamaha system to work with future 4K resolution sources and TVs. Twin component, optical and coaxial inputs also give the YHT398 a wider range of conventional sockets than most of its rivals.

Making this system ideal for your music, too, the Yamaha YHT398 also comes with a USB socket. By connecting your iPod/iPhone or MP3 player to the USB, you'll benefit from a digital connection. This gives a direct signal and, hence, purer sound quality than using a conventional dock or analogue input. Another great feature is that it will also charge your iPod or iPhone - even when the receiver is switched off, in standby!

EASY TO USE

In addition to sounding great, the Yamaha is also easy to use. The SCENE function automatically selects the ideal DSP (Digital Signal Processor) setting to suit the input. Four SCENE selections ensure that you always have the correct setting when watching films or listening to music. As this is a Yamaha, the wide selection of DSP modes (17) give a range of effects not available with other AV receivers. In addition to this, YPAO automatically sets the speakers to match the room's acoustics, making the YHT398 just as easy to set up as ever.

OTHER GREAT FEATURES

Other great features with this Yamaha AV receiver include Compressed Music Enhancer and A/V lip sync function. Compressed Music Enhancer improves the sound from MP3 sources such as computer audio or iPods/iPhones, giving them enhanced detail at the top end and lower bass. A/V lip sync function ensures you get a perfect match between the image of dialogue on your TV and the actual sound from your speakers. Finally, the YHT398 comes with an ECO mode and low standby power consumption, ensuring it's amongst the most energy efficient in its class.

PERFECTLY MATCHED SPEAKERS

Unlike most other all-in-one systems, the Yamaha YHT398 comes with speakers that do full justice to the electronics. Larger volume speakers with MDF cabinets give a fuller, more natural sound quality. All five surround speakers also feature a 2-way design with separate tweeters and woofers. This gives the treble added detail and clarity whilst also allowing the mid-range to sound uncongested and immediate. At the bottom end, the active subwoofer uses Yamaha's YST II technology to produce a deep and powerful bass response.

For quality home cinema in a box, the Yamaha YHT398 is without compromise.

Features:

5-channel 575W = 115W x 5 (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9 % THD, 1 ch driven)
Discrete amp configuration
Network functions such as AirPlay and AV Controller app
4K pass-through for next generation super high resolution images
HDMI (4 in/1 out) with 3D and Audio Return Channel
Front panel USB Digital Connection for iPod, iPhone and iPad
HD Audio decoding with CINEMA DSP 3D (17 DSP programmes)
Multi language colour OSD (English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese)
ECO mode operation for about 20% less power consumption
Stylish black gloss satellite speakers
Advanced YST subwoofer

A decent entry level system with lots of features such as 3D and front USB.

Heat added.

Does look good. Thing is with Richer Sounds is that it will get even cheaper at the end of January which I am holding out for cause i'm in desperate need of a new amp!!!

...if they have any left. Seems a cracking deal would have got if didn't have the onkyo jamo package from pcworld already

I've reserved one from the Liverpool store, think it was the last one so be quick!

great deal

nice

Richer Sounds Jan Sales are usually quite good.

The UK (EU) model comes with the RX-V373 equivalent, which isn't DLNA compatible as far as I'm aware. The next model up, the YHT-498 is DLNA and offers all the benefits of networking devices. This is also on a good offer @ Peter Tyson for £379 petertyson.co.uk/ebu…tml

Im tempted!

Another pic for you guys

Great deal and Richer Sounds are a great store with fantastic helpful staff so i wouldnt hesitate from buying anything from these guys.

me like the 498, how would it compare to pioneer xvd55?

Bought this just before new year. Awesome sound for the price. Makes my Samsung 55" sound as good as it looks. Very happy. Highly recommended.

As Land_Raver stated, this comes with a 'rebadged' RX-V373 which was awarded What HiFi best Receiver up to £350 in 2012. Review here
RX-V373 retails for £220 (although you can source it a little cheaper) at Richer Sounds on it's own so this is a bargain.

Why do all first time deal posters put this, it's annoying.

Where do all of the speakers go? There's not enough holes

Why do some hotukdeal posters always try to pick a fight. Concentrate on the deal man.

The two front speakers attach to the big red/black binding posts. There are three pairs of spring clips for the centre & rears, then a line-out socket for the active sub.

Does anyone know if there is any huge difference in sound between this and a Teac AG-D10 ?

Perfectly good for the money.

Great deal and would like one but in this day and age do they really need to be so large?? These things are massive and could almost double as a coffee table.

Awesome deal. I got it when they were £299 and I was happy then.
I was looking for my first 5.1 system and people on avforums were steering me towards the cheaper YHT-196 but that only has passive sub and so I thought this one would be more future proof when/if upgrading. Really happy with it, really loud if you want, have to keep it down due to neighbours.

Yea but large means cool!

I bought a Yamaha 373 on Sunday for £219.99, then saw this deal sunday night - Doh!!

Spoke to Richer Sounds who happily swapped them round for me yesterday. As someone else mentioned, it is the 373 equivelant, not the 473, but there are very little differences between the 2 (connecting up to your network is the main one)

Still an amazing deal, I basically got the speakers and sub for £30.

Thanks for posting.

Hot, hot

Ps, if you are considering one, act quickly as there are only very limited stock left now at this price beg a clearence item
