This has been posted a few times now and each has expired but it's back on until 21/9/11 Use code CINEMA 5A and don't forget Quidco

This package is an AV receiver Yamaha RXV367 and speakers (I believe it's the yamaha nsp285). 4 HDMI Inputs, 2 x Optical, 2 x Coaxial, Active Sub Woofer and a set up mic. Doesn't do onboard HD decoding which put me off the deal previously but does accept HD audio if your player does the decoding such as a PS3. Ordered mine last night so should arrive on Monday, for the price this looks like a bargain.

I'd been waiting for one of the more high end Onkyo systems to come down in price but my current set up has started to die and on a budget this looks like a cracking deal for a system with a few bells and whistles.

Seems it's only available for collection at the moment which reduces the Quidco to 2.5%

been looking for an entry level home theatre setup(connected to PC) for my new house. cheaper than richer sounds by a tenner and 6% quidco. but richer sonds do £10 off VIP voucher making same price except no quidco. was also looking at the LG 5.1 on RS for 199.99 as had more powerful sub and speakers but don't seem have any reviews anywhere. Might have a punt on this as as stated no onkyos seem to be going cheap like there were at 1 point on here.
I have this system.....I have had more expensive systems before, but just wanted something for a sensible price, and I think its great. Use it in the living room and it does a more than passable job. Of course you will find better....but possible not for the SAME money
very good for the price.
but i have the speakers and sub, im just after an amp.

I have for sale on a well known site! MARANTZ SR4300.
Have a look!
I have this set-up, highly recommend it I believe the amp is a HT-3063.
Great deal, so much better than the all-in-one systems that come with built-in DVD/Blu-ray players, the featureset and sound quality on those things doesn't even compare to a decent kit like this.
I have this and it's good value, I had an Onkyo system before I blew a speaker and got the full system swapped for this.

I would personally rather pay more and get something a bit better, there's a few niggly things I dont like but it is cheap.
Good deal. I've been looking at to buy my first dedicated surround sound system for a while but cant decide whiche one, it's either this Yamaha system, the Onkyo 3405 or the Onkyo 5405.

For this price, plus the quidco, this is a good deal. But I'll probably wait until they reduce the price of the 3405's to £239.99 like they had few weeks back, should have bought it then.
this is also that price in richer sounds, just in case you have a richer sounds that's local.

Nope, Richer Sounds has it on for £199.95, but if you haven't already you can sign up to their VIP members thingybob and get £10 voucher making it effectively same price (minus Quidco).
Excellent deal! I have this and got iy hooked up to my 360 and PC. They say it's entry level but its more like mid range really, very powerful and many connections.
Could you run this just 2.1 or 3.1 if you wanted to?!

(Don't want to run cables round for rear speakers)

Yes, if you want .

Is there a setting for outputting the sound this way though, or will it just sound rubbish if you are 'missing' sound from speakers you don't have plugged in?

You'd have to run it in normal stereo mode, which means you're not really going to benefit. Might as well just get a decent 2.1 system to start with.
I wouldn't go through Quidco if it is 6% extra (+6%). Now if it was less 6% that's a different matter.

Yes there is a setting so you can have it 2.1 or 5.1 .
Thanks, I think a dedicated 2.1 system would be better (gets better reviews for 2.1 sound) like this trustedreviews.com/Onk…iew

This Yamaha looks like a great 5.1 system for those on a budget though!
Has to be better than some of the all-in-one systems costing twice the price. Looks a cracking deal!

I would bite the bullet and run cables for the rear speakers, not too difficult. This system would be a waste of money otherwise.
Better safe than sorry.Wear your crash helmet whilst using this....

That one has some really decent reviews, if I remember rightly you can also expand it to a full 5.1 system by buying a speaker pack which is just the centre and two rears if you change your mind in the future.
voted hot - as looks like the cheapest at the moment. although worth noting that this appears to have been a bit cheaper previously.

Just HDMI cables. One from the receiver to the TV, and then as many as you need to connect other devices to the receiver.

Has it got the digital delay bug or did you have it fixed? Got to say I bought one of these when they first came out and was very disappointed with it

with thoes speakers you wont be able to tell the difference. Need full size good quality speakers for that. Better speakers + dts > budget speakers + dts hd
Got this and it's great for the price, 4 hmdi inputs and an active sub.

Still don't know how best buy are making money, the shop was deserted when i went there...
If I could afford this right now I'd snap it up. Hot
I'll wait for less than 20 pounds. Oops, wrong thread haha.

To the first comment - Only relevant with a BluRay player.
To the latter - They say garbage in garbage out, so would an HD soundtrack actually sound better or worse. I would say better regardless of speaker size.
