The yi 4k action camera is on the amazon deal of the day
There's always deals on for the yi cameras, but not too often the 4k version with waterproof case, which is normally around £180. Offer covers the black or white variants.
Gets a lot of good reviews in general. Not to be mistaken for the pseudo 4k cheaper versions such as the yi discovery.
Cheapest it's been according to 3 camels

Good price!
Heat
Not sure why this is going cold, anyone voting cold willing to share thinking? The Yi 4k is a great cam for this money, quite similar to the gopro hero 5 at half the price.

i love my yi cameras and would always recommend them but considering the go pro session 5 is now £119 /£129 this isn't that great a deal unless you really want a screen on your camera

its also not really a "deal" they have been round this price on amazon for ages every since the 4k plus came out

Prettt much as low as they come for this cam according to camel.

As someone who just bought the Session 5 on that recent price drop, I do agree with you. However like you say; one is a super compact design, the other has a large touchscreen and playback. People pay quite a premium for the hero 5 for those features, and arguably the yi is very close in spec. Personally I enjoy not having those features on an action cam, less time messing about as ultimately you just end up pressing record and getting on with your activity. I do miss the easy playback and file management aspect thought.

25p? Eh?

From the reviews I've seen, image quality between the hero 5 and the yi 4k is very close. Either can edge it depending on the environment at the time, but largely interchangeable. The go pro has some great additional features, such as robustness, waterproof as is, better EIS, but you pay significantly more for those advantages.

Uk is mainly 25p and 50p but some of these action cams only do 30p and 60p etc. Thats what i ment about 25p. I think go pro might do 25p.

Hmm ok, does that cause comparability issues? Must say I've been using 30/60 FPS on a go pro and not noticed any issues yet.

No issues as such but 25p looks slightly different from 30p. 60p is good for slow motion. Its easier to mix footage from multiple cameras if they have same frames rates. 25p gives slightly better low light. But only slightly. But higher frame rate is better for fast movement.

I went from the original yi action cam , to a yi lite ( which i consider even with the session 5 deal the best budget action camera out there for what you get specs wise versus price ) .

I had been looking at upgrading to a yi 4k ( well dropping hints as my bday is coming up) so have been keeping a close eye on prices especially on amazon as they always have deals and offers. But when the session dropped that was a no brainer purchase.

I'd take no screen over rugged , small easy to use and waterproof out the box any day of the week now esp as most of the stuff i film is dogs at beach
