This one is only 1080p 30fps and the more expensive one is 1080p 60fps

Has anyone got a successful discount applied to their insurance quote …Has anyone got a successful discount applied to their insurance quote because they had a dashcam? as i noticed a tick box stating if you have a dash cam or not, when getting a quote on compare insurance websites.

I have dash cams in 4 of our family vehicles plus my works vehicle and would never tell the insurance companies.
Use the video evidence to your benefit and not a reason for the insurance companies to wriggle out of paying up if for instance you're slightly over the speed limit.

Unless it's a driving holiday, I don't think this is the type of camera I would be taking on holiday with me!
ah ok its a dashcam i thought it was go pro type thing, thats me not reading properly.

Iv had the more expensive one since last November and had no issue with it. I would recommend getting a high endurance card to go with it aswell.

Yes - AXA provide 10% off. I made sure they discounted my quote as best they could at renewal before mentioning my dash cam and getting a further 10% off. Not sure about comparison sites and whether it affects the quotes.

Anyone got the link for the grey one? As sounds like it may be worth the extra money but like to read the reviews. Thanks.

Yep 1st to moan about insurance fraud (rightly so)but plenty of them make a claim a major hassle.
Quality is excellent. I would go for the grey model though, the 60fps makes a difference if you want to read a plate while driving... The wider angle means you can catch more than what's directly in from of the cam.

I have 2 of the grey version (front and back). Both really good. Only slight issue is during winter when it's close to 0ºC in the car and the cam reboots or shuts off. Once you're past 5ºC in the car, they work ok.
Really pleased with them, I would defo recommend.
Got mine just before Xmas for £30, fantastic dash cam, cracking price for £26
Nice find OP cheers ordered one ...worth a punt at £27 quid. T

Note that the parking mode is going to eat your car battery. If you want to rely on the cam's battery, these don't usually last long. Plus you'd need a long drive in between to fully recharge the cam's battery so it last longer once no longer powered...
You could look into something like this to extend the power to the cam and not ruin your car battery:

Cams don't have a battery!! and a good cam ( Thinkware) has the power Voltage cut off incorporated into the Dashcam

You have the Cam hardwired into the fuse board of the car NOT the cigarette lighter ..it won't pull anymore than 1.5-2amps ....no need to run the car to charge the battery unless your battery is on its way out ...then I'd suggest changing it ...

If you do leave the car for a long period then you set the Cut of Voltage on the Cam....

Or you could always purchase a Power Magic Pro if you don't have the function incorporated

Cams don't have a battery!!

This one has a battery, albeit a very tiny one as it only lasts about 10 sec. mine's setup to give my driving stats (mainly how long my drive was).
Oh and my wife's cam has a battery, Maybe check before posting facts

And on the "it won't pull anymore than 1.5-2amps" comment, that would be enough to drain your battery over a weekend (happened to my wife's car due to the stupid way Vauxhall wired their cigarette lighter (always on, even without ignition).
This is why I suggested the mio smartbox which I guess works the same as the Power Magic Pro that you suggested

If your battery is draining after pulling 1.5 amps then you have a problem sir

I have 2 Thinkware Cams hardwired into the fuse ... constantly on Parking Mode and never had a problem...

Cut of Voltage ensures the cam will power down thus saving the battery if any problems do arise whilst in PM....

Decent dash cams don't have a battery most of these cheap cams do, yes batteries are not ideal and will eventually die or worse case catch fire if you're in a hot climate.
Always try and buy a camera with a capacitor.
I’ve got one last time they were on offer. Cracking camera. Hasn’t let me down at all
how are you mouting your cameras? Are they easy to remove when you park so that nobody smashes your windows?
Anyone got a suggestion/link for a dual camera setup? Need one th@t has park mode. Got a lease car and the parking sensors are doing my head in, always triggering on the kerb, or sometimes for Jo reason... I'd rather have a visual, hence, need a dual camera setup that feeds through in to the front camera/monitor for parking, etc but also for driving.

Thanks in advance.

You'd think people wouldn't smash a window to steal a camera that might be recording them... would they??
I was going to buy this until I looked at the quality of the videos it produces on amazon, really poor - ratings back this up too.

They’ll smash a window to steal a camera BECAUSE it’s recording them, and they know it’ll be recording to a local memory card.

Oh, and so they can sell it on for a fiver...

why would they care if it's recording them? It just gives them a reason to smash the window, steal the camera, delete the footage then sell it. It happened to a friend.. then he had to deal with driving to work with a broken window in the freezing cold, over a £30 camera....
I got the grey one a couple weeks ago.. the only problem i have is it records 30 second loops (can not find a way to change it) that will be harsh on a memory card as that will mean a hell of a lot of writes
Is this going to be any different to using my Eken H9 as a dash cam?
Is the wide angle Yi cam at £38 not a better deal?
